“So I’ve quickly come to realize that there was something/someone that my son did not like at his old school, and I see that now only because we have made this transition. For two years, he clung to my leg every morning at drop off at the old school. On only day THREE at your school, he was so excited about getting to school and getting in his classroom. We walked into his room, I had to ASK him for a hug and a kiss goodbye and once we did that, he quickly ran over to circle time and totally forgot about me!  Would have never happened before.  I couldn’t be any happier with this change and wanted to tell you thank you for his spot and for the work that you and your staff do in taking great care of the kids.”

AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

East York KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

A Finn’s thoughts in America on the luxury of enjoying life

When my American friend moved from New York to Helsinki, he knew what to expect. He had often been to Finland before, he liked the small size of Helsinki, but he knew that the winters here could be quite harsh. However, there was one thing he was worried about: the low level of wages in the country.

The average annual salary of a full-time Finnish employee is only 36,000 euros (about 43,000 US dollars). Of course, for some countries this figure may seem very high, but for a specialist with a higher education who has lived all his life in one of the largest financial centers in the world, this is a serious decrease in income. My friend is accustomed to New York salaries, and although there are workers in this city, as in any other, who are paid much less, white-collar employees working in large corporations, such as lawyers, financiers and sales directors, as a rule earn at least $100,000 a year. Finnish salaries are not even close to American ones. What was the surprise of my New York friend when he found that the difference in income was not as striking as he expected. The fact is that in Finland he spent practically nothing!

He told me about it with a laugh. Of course, he still had some expenses. So, housing in Helsinki can be quite expensive, and food is more expensive than in other regions. Yet there was a great deal of truth in his words.

For example, in New York, the average cost of caring for a small child is $16,000 per year. That’s above the US average, but it’s also over $10,000 a year in more than half of the states, and $22,000 a year in Washington, DC. In Finland, every child in the country is guaranteed a place in a good municipal kindergarten, where children play outdoors most of the day under the supervision of highly qualified, well-trained staff. Parents pay for the services of such a kindergarten on a sliding scale, depending on their income. The maximum amount charged, regardless of income level, is 3,480 euros or 4,100 dollars per year.

In the US, new parents not only have to pay a considerable amount for kindergarten, but also immediately start saving money for the future education of their child. The average tuition, including room and board, for a private non-profit four-year college in the United States is about $45,000 per year. In Finland, higher education is free for all citizens of the country and the EU; in addition, the state pays students a monthly stipend as material assistance.

Falling in love with Scandinavian ideals

In the US, one of the biggest expenses for a family is medicine. In Finland, health care services are financed from taxes, and patients pay only a small part of their cost. Services for pregnant women and children are mostly provided free of charge. From his own funds, the patient pays only 690 euros or 815 dollars a year. Upon reaching this limit, most medical services become free.

Over time, my friend realized that highly paid American professionals, who at first glance receive quite a lot of money, spend tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars a year (after taxes) on these basic services. In Finland, as in many other countries, these services can be compared, for example, to the fire department: you just pay taxes and use them for free. Finnish taxes are income-based and the income tax here is not as high as many foreigners think. (An employee who earns an average salary in Finland pays a tax that is about a quarter of this salary.) Therefore, even a seemingly small Finnish salary is enough to live on.

Recently, a peculiar Scandinavian ideal, which is called the Danish word “hygge”, is gaining popularity all over the world. These are cozy evenings with family and friends and the refusal to work to wear and tear in pursuit of big money. However, fans of hygge sometimes forget that the inhabitants of the Scandinavian countries can afford it due to the fact that in these countries the state has decided to satisfy the most complex, expensive and important needs of its inhabitants (childcare, education, health care, etc. ), turning them into a kind of universal goods. This means that people do not have to spend time finding, researching and getting such services, and any citizen of the country can use these “universal goods” regardless of their income level. It also means that the same services are used by both the wealthiest segments of the population and the middle class, which makes it possible to maintain their quality at a high level.

Now my friend, who recently had a baby and has been living and working in Finland for some time, thinks he made the right choice. After all, it’s not about how much you earn, but about what you can afford with that money.

Three Key Indicators of the Model Country

  • Bicycles
Cycle paths in Finland are usually separated from the road and often run along rivers, forests or parks in cities. Agree, getting to work by bike along the sea coast is much more pleasant than shaking in the train!
  • Kindergartens
Finns are known for their tendency to complain about the poor quality of public services if they do not meet their expectations. Therefore, it is doubly indicative of the fact that they highly appreciate municipal kindergartens, in which their children have fun in active games and activities and get genuine pleasure.
  • Road traffic in winter
Driving in ice, hail or snow conditions is challenging everywhere, and Finland is no exception. Accidents and delays in the work of transport also happen here, but after living abroad for several years and returning to Finland, I realized that in our country they have learned to cope with these situations like nowhere else. In winter, the local roads are just as busy with life as they are in summer.

MANAGING PROPERTY AFTER THE DEATH OF THE OWNER

Understanding the probate and administration process in New York and New Jersey

During the probate and distribution process after the death of the owner, the identity of the deceased person is verified, their assets are verified, outstanding debts and taxes are paid, and the remaining property is distributed among their heirs. Upon the death of the asset owner, the court will appoint an executor of a valid will to administer the probate process. If there is no will, the court will appoint a trustee to process the will in accordance with the state’s rules on probate in New York or New Jersey estate administration.

Probate law varies by state, but there are general steps in the process. A will is required for any asset or account that does not list the name of the co-owner or beneficiary. If a joint owner or beneficiary is indicated, then the name in such an asset changes automatically, and there is no need for a will for its administration and transfer to heirs. An experienced estate distribution lawyer can help you determine which planning tools are best for you and guide you through all the steps of the probate process through Surrogate Court.
