Childcare Options / School Age Childcare (SACC)

  • Evanston/Skokie School District 65’s School Age Child Care (SACC) program provides a nurturing, caring, and safe environment for children before and after school. The program is available to kindergarten through 5th grade students that are enrolled in District 65 elementary and magnet schools.

    Children that participate in the SACC program are divided into small groups according to age and activity. Activities are developmentally appropriate and include story time, sports, drama, art, science, music, and indoor/outdoor play. Literacy, enrichment, and academic tutoring are integral components of the School Age Child Care Program. Space is limited but every effort is made to accommodate our families’ needs at each site. All childcare sites are licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

    Services through the School Age Child Care program are provided during the school year from 7am to the start of the school day and from the end of the school day until 6pm. Please be advised that childcare is not available on school holidays; however, special Optional Care is available on School Improvement Days (school half-days) and on days where there is no school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences (October and February).

SACC Programs

  • Before-school childcare services are offered at each elementary and magnet school site starting at 7am. Children remain in morning childcare until the school day begins. Students attending the before-school program will be offered a healthy breakfast to start their day.

    After-school childcare services are offered at each elementary and magnet school site starting at the end of the school day. Children must be picked up no later than 6pm. Students attending the after-school program will be offered a healthy snack.

    The SACC program is designed to provide a before and after school experience that:

    • offers families a safe and secure environment for their children outside the regular school day;
    • nurtures and promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children;
    • supports each site’s School Improvement Plan; and
    • promotes life-long learning skills.

    Literacy, enrichment, and academic tutoring are integral components of the School Age Childcare program. The program consists of multi-age groups from kindergarten through fifth grade, with children divided into smaller groups according to activity or age. Activities are developmentally appropriate.

    Enrollment in SACC does not preclude children from participating in other after-school enrichment programs that include sports, clubs, or activities. However, SACC fees are based on enrollment, not attendance.

  • Optional Care in District 65 is available on School Improvement Days (half-day of school) and on days where there is no school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences (October and February). On Optional Care days, field trips or other special activities are planned for participants. In previous school years, students have enjoyed trips to the grove, Waveland Bowl for cosmic bowling, jump zone, Centre East Theatre, Field Museum, and a fun-filled field day at Evanston Township High School. All K-5 students are eligible to participate in the Optional Care program (Enrollment in the school age child care program is not required and Optional Care fees are non-refundable).

    Optional Care packages are available for all days, half days only, or full days only.

Cook County Child Abuse Attorneys / Glenview, Illinois Child Injury Lawyers

Child Abuse and Accidents in Schools and Daycare

When you send your child to school or daycare, you are not in in no case should you worry about his well-being. Institutions have a responsibility to protect the health and safety of every child who visits them. Unfortunately, not all institutions that work with children meet these strict standards, and neglect is even more of a concern when it comes to a child’s well-being.

Gruzmark Law, Ltd. in Glenview, IL, our team of school and kindergarten injury attorneys is ready to advocate for your child’s right to a safe environment in which to learn and grow. We place great responsibility on these institutions for violations of safety and regulations aimed at protecting your children. By accompanying your family through every step of the legal process, our experienced lawyers will help you achieve justice for your child’s injuries.

Cook and Lake Counties Child Protection

Our attorneys are compassionate and sincere towards their clients and their families, but merciless towards guilty parties who harm children. If your child is injured at school or daycare as a result of one of the following accidents, you may be eligible to file a claim:

  • Improper care of babies and children
  • Lack of service personnel
  • Failure to prevent or intervene in bullying or dangerous behavior
  • Sports equipment left unattended or injuries sustained during sports activities
  • Failure to protect children from abuse (physical, verbal, sexual, psychological)

In some of the worst cases of negligence, children are too young to stand up for themselves or tell someone they were hurt, allowing the behavior to continue for some time before it comes to light. We understand that child neglect cases are very sensitive and traumatic for families. Our team will do everything in our power to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions and provide your family with the peace you deserve to recover from the trauma you have endured during this time.

Injuries to your children are unacceptable

Injuries that children can suffer from lack of proper supervision and care in kindergartens and schools can range from minor to catastrophic. Some of the most common accidents that can affect children include:

  • School bus accidents: School bus drivers have a duty to keep our children safe by always obeying the rules of the road. Drivers who are inattentive on the road, who text while driving, who drive under the influence of alcohol, or who are unable to supervise passengers on the bus, put children at high risk of injury.
  • Incorrect classroom/furniture design: Parents go out of their way to ensure their home is safe for children and their well-being. Moreover, classrooms at school should always be safe for our children. Unfortunately, some classrooms are not always safe places for children and have sharp corners on furniture or other hazardous conditions that can lead to injury to children.
  • Sports Injuries: Coaches and teachers who are responsible for sports activities are required to be present whenever students participate in physical exercise or training. Lack of control can lead to fractures, exhaustion from overheating, heatstroke, or other preventable injuries.
  • Electric shock or injury from electricity: Small children who are left unattended near electrical cords and outlets may receive an electric shock or other injury.
  • Choking injuries: choking accidents leading to death or near death happen very quickly. Small children can put small objects in their mouths and start to choke before anyone else notices if they are not properly supervised.
  • Falling out of windows: if the owners of the premises neglect the rules of window care and do not put up adequate guards, children can be seriously injured.
  • Injuries due to abuse.

Unsupervised children of all ages can be victims of physical, emotional or psychological abuse. This can be done by other students or adults, and most often occurs when the child is unsupervised.
