Online project “School of Little Pianists”

“School of Little Pianists” is an advanced training course for piano teachers working with children of preschool age, as well as heads of methodological and educational departments of children’s art schools and children’s music schools in the cities of presence of Rosatom State Corporation, developed by experienced teacher Alexandra Leonidovna Bolshova.

The types of work she offers are based on proven methods, the richest traditions of the Russian and Soviet piano school of solo performance, and are very productive in the implementation of the pre-professional curriculum at the Children’s Art School and Children’s Music School. nine0003

The purpose of the course is to share theoretical knowledge and practical skills of teaching children from one and a half years old in the field of piano performance; identification of gifted children in the field of musical performance on the piano and preparing them for further admission to institutions of secondary vocational education.

The objectives of the course are:

– Preservation of the traditions of the Russian school in the field of piano performance. Implementation and dissemination of methods for early education of children in the field of piano performance on the basis of children’s music schools and children’s art schools in the cities where Rosatom operates; nine0003

– development of musical abilities: hearing, rhythm, memory, musicality and artistry in very young children;

– mastering musical literacy by children, mastering the performing skills of playing the piano, allowing the youngest students to competently perform a piece of music both solo and in an ensemble, as well as perform accompaniment;

– acquisition of the first experience of public speaking by children;

– formation of motivation among the most gifted children to continue serious education in the pre-professional programs of children’s music schools and children’s art schools in the cities where Rosatom has a presence. nine0003

The first season of classes took place during the 2021-2022 academic year. The “School of Little Pianists” webinars included information-theoretical classes, discussions and practical work on age groups. During the webinars, A.L. Bolshova shared her own extensive experience in working with students from 1.5 to 7 years old and showed examples of lessons directly with her students studying at the piano department.

The second half of the 2021-2022 academic year was devoted to working on master classes. The participants of the classes – teachers of music schools and art schools – presented their wards and their current level of performance training to their colleagues both in the recording and in the online connection format. The results of the first season of the project were summed up at full-time master classes and as part of the final concert in the city of Zarechny, Penza Region, in May 2022.

At the end of the first season of the project, the teachers who participated in the “School of Little Pianists” project, together with their students, received the appropriate certificates. And the opportunity to excel and take part in the joint full-time concert of the project has become a great incentive for the creative development of young musicians.
