2-Year-Old Birthday Themes Worth Celebrating

Your kid’s turning 2, and it’s time to celebrate! In the past 24 months, your little one has likely learned to crawl, walk and talk. In addition to these major developmental milestones, your kiddo’s unique personality—and their distinct likes and dislikes—will start to shine through at this age. Keep your tot’s interests in mind when brainstorming second birthday themes. If they’re obsessed with dinosaurs, opt for a prehistoric theme. If they jump up and down with glee everytime you tune into a certain TV show, plan the day around their favorite character.

How to Plan a 2-Year-Old’s Birthday Party

Even if you have a seed of an idea, plotting a toddler birthday bash for your soon-to-be 2 year old can overwhelm even the most organized parent. Take a deep breath. With these second birthday party ideas and tips from Seri Kertzner, owner of the New York City-based planning group Little Miss Party Planner, you can pull off a memorable party for your 2-year-old with minimal stress.

  • Keep it simple: When your child turns one, parents typically go all out and throw a blowout party. “But by baby’s second birthday, you’ve been there and done that,” Kertzner says. “No need to go big. Invite just your child’s friends (classmates, cousins and neighbors) and keep the party low-key.”

  • Embrace a colorful theme: “My favorites are a rainbow (all the colors!), a farm or a rubber ducky party, but consider your child’s interests,” Kertzner says. Make your life easier by picking a pre-packaged concept like Disney characters or Sesame Street, or get inspired by your toddler’s current favorite cartoon. And if you’re crafty, go for a DIY theme where you can let your own talents shine.

  • Keep kids busy: Let’s face it: There’s always a chance a tantrum will break out in a room full of toddlers. Prevent meltdowns by planning plenty of activities to keep kids busy. Better yet, hire someone to help. It’s best to find an entertainer your child is familiar with— a band member from your child’s music class or a storyteller from the nearby library. Ask parent friends for vetted recommendations. And if you’re looking for entertainment, you can find and book a range of performers (magicians, musicians, face painters—you name it) on TheBash.com.

  • Adults should have fun too: Don’t forget to entertain the parents too. If appropriate, Kertzner suggests having wine and beer readily available. “It’s also nice to set some grownup food for them to snack on, such as a crudités or a cheese platter,” she adds.

  • Don’t sweat the small stuff: It’s a 2-year-old birthday party, after all. Your kid won’t remember it, so try to relax and have fun, Kertzner says. As long as you nail down the theme, the fine details—like invitations, cake ideas and birthday party outfits—will all fall into place.

Punny 2-Year-Old Birthday Themes

Love a good pun? You’re in luck; there are tons of funny—and punny—second birthday themes. Head to Pinterest for inspiration, brainstorm your own puns or check out three of our favorite 2-year-old birthday party themes below.

Two cool birthday theme

Image: Minted, Zazzle, Amazon, DoubleJoyDesigns

Is your toddler too cool for school? Consider throwing them a “two cool” birthday party. This gender-neutral theme is open to interpretation, but we envision a modern color scheme (think: cobalt blue and sunny yellow) and decorative sunglasses. After all, every cool kid needs a killer pair of shades. In terms of party clothes, let them wear their favorite outfit (nothing screams cool kid like a unique sense of style!) or pick up a printed tee for the occasion. When it comes to snacks and party food, serve up mini cupcakes with sprinkles and colorful platters of fruits and veggies. Dippable treats, like chicken nuggets and mozzarella sticks, always go down well. Bake or buy, a birthday cake with icy blue frosting and decorate it with a custom topper. All that partying is going to make those littles thirsty, so have a cooler full of grown-up drinks and plenty of juice boxes for the kiddos (chilled of course). Want to go all out? Invest in a snow cone machine for an icy, on-theme dessert.

Two sweet birthday theme

Image: Zazzle, Mudpie, SweetAmyShopUS, Amazon

Celebrate your kid’s sweet nature with a confectionary-inspired birthday party. The “two sweet” birthday theme uses candy colors and playful accessories to create a scene Willy Wonka would be proud of. We’ve chosen to highlight a donut and sprinkle motif, but you can draw inspiration from your little one’s favorite treats (think: ice-cream, cookies or even watermelon!). Before the event send out personalized invitations with a photo of your kid in their sweetest look to date. Decorate the venue with a banner and streamers in shades of mint green, lavender purple and pastel pink. Confetti balloons also work well, as the colorful confetti looks like sprinkles! Dress your little one in a personalized birthday outfit or a sweet dress that they can wear again. Keep kids of all ages entertained with a cupcake-decorating station—simply plate up some freshly-iced cupcakes and a selection of toppings and sprinkles. Serve up custom cookies, popcorn cones and some healthy veggies and protein-based finger foods to avoid epic sugar-rushes among your little guests. A rainbow sprinkle birthday cake will be the cherry on top.

Two fast birthday theme

Ready, set, go! A “two fast” birthday party is the perfect choice for mini motor-heads. Go for car-themed decorations and red, white and black balloons. For a cheap and cheerful nod to the theme, buy a black table cloth and use small strips of white tape to create road markings on your very own race track. Dress your little one in a custom two fast outfit or a Lightning McQueen shirt. Serve up Oreos, stop-light jello and hot dogs with little wheels fashioned from olives. The crowning glory of this boisterous bash? A birthday cake decorated with a red race car topper. This 2-year-old birthday party theme is sure to be a roaring success.

Two groovy birthday theme

Here’s one more punny 2-year-old birthday theme for good measure: A “two groovy” party. Decorations in vintage hues—like burnt orange, mustard yellow and rose pink—will take center stage at this event. Add floral elements like daisy balloons and flower crowns for a boho touch. Dress your little hippie in laid-back attire or opt for adorable mommy-and-me matching shirts. Serve up healthy platters of veggie sticks and hummus alongside a tie-dye frosted cake. Good vibes guaranteed.

Disney 2-year-old birthday themes

Disney-inspired 2-year-old birthday themes are always magical. While we couldn’t cover every classic film, here are three party ideas inspired by our kids’ favorite flicks.

Minnie or Mickey Mouse birthday theme

Image: Zazzle, stonehippoboutique, Walmart, Party City

Honor Disney’s roots with a Minnie and Mickey-themed birthday party for your 2-year-old. When it comes to decor, don’t fight the urge to go all out on the mouse motif. Balloons, party favors and decorations that fit the theme are all easy to find. Pick up a fun costume or dress your mini in a personalized T-shirt for the big occasion. Disney-inspired bites for a toddler’s second birthday are easier than you think: bow-tie pasta (a nod to Minnie’s love of bows), unpeeled oranges with slices of kiwi pinned in with a toothpick for ears and Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles. For the showstopper, get your hands on a simple sheet cake and decorate it with an edible sticker featuring Disney’s dynamic duo.

Encanto birthday theme

Image: InvitationwithLove, Disney, Oriental Trading, Party City

You’ll be seeing plenty of 2-year-old birthday themes inspired by the smash hit Encanto. Make it magical with an interactive e-invitation that gives guests a taste of what’s to come. Pick up some Encanto party supplies or get crafty with homemade streamers and balloons in turquoise blue, cerise pink and rich purple. Your little superstar can wear a look inspired by their favorite character, whether that be Mirabel, Antonio or Bruno (Shush!). Keep tots entertained with a movie-themed sing along and dance-off. Dish up some bite-size treats like empanadas with corn salad and chips and dips. Add a custom topper to their birthday cake to complete the look.

Frozen birthday theme

Is your kid a big Frozen fan? Follow the steps below to host the perfect Frozen-inspired second birthday party. First off, create a custom invitation with a picture of your little one (preferably a snap of them frolicking in the snow, but work with what you’ve got!). Next, source a costume of their favorite character from the film. Once you’ve picked an outfit, turn your attention to decorations. Plenty of online stores offer decorating kits; or, you could upcycle old Christmas decorations to create your very own winter wonderland. Complete the look with an icy blue and white balloon arch. For snacks, serve up a bowl of “ Olaf’s marshmallow snowballs,” snowflake cookies and a plate of “Sven’s carrots” with an assortment of dips.

Whimsical 2-Year-Old Birthday Themes

Of course, a second birthday party doesn’t have to focus on a certain character or funny play on words. Why not go old-school with a whimsical 2-year-old birthday theme? From a barnyard bash to an ocean-inspired event, here are three of our favorite party ideas for toddlers.

Summer camp birthday theme

Image: Target, ShirtsBySarah, Oriental Trading, Walmart

Searching for summer-ready 2-year-old birthday party ideas? Head outdoors and host a camp-inspired celebration. Draft a guest list and invite attendees to visit summer camp for the afternoon. Next pick up some tees: Parents and helpers can wear “camp counselor” shirts, while the birthday boy or girl can rock a custom happy camper T-shirt. On the day, set up a trestle table in your backyard (or local green space) and add a checkered tablecloth. Use log-slice cake stands and homespun decorations, like lanterns and brown paper bunting, to create a rustic vibe that stays true to the theme. A summer barbecue makes it easy to grill and chill for toddlers and adults. Hamburgers, hot dogs and cauliflower wings for the vegetarians are crowd pleasers for all ages. Of course, no camping trip would be complete without s’mores, so set up a DIY station with all the ingredients and assign an adult to warm them up on the grill or fire pit. Wash all the tasty treats down with gallons of ice-cold lemonade—simply delicious.

Vintage tea-party birthday theme

Image: SavetheDatePrintable, MeadowsMarvels, Meri Meri

Toddlers love to imitate adults, which is why an afternoon-tea 2-year-old birthday theme proves to be such a success. The best part? A toddler tea party is relatively inexpensive and super-easy to set up. Send vintage-style invitations and allow attendees to bring a plus-one in the form of their favorite doll or stuffed animal. Encourage guests to wear their fanciest attire and dress your little one in a pretty party dress. Set the scene with a low table surrounded by cushions to sit on. Decorate with a floral tablecloth, doilies and strings of faux pearls. Skip the fancy china in favor of plastic tea cups and child-friendly paper tableware (Meri Meri has tons of cute options). Serve up delicate sandwiches and macaroons on tiered cake stands, and pour juice or pink lemonade from a teapot. Keep party-goers entertained with your kid’s dress-up box, and let them blow off some steam with a cake-themed piñata.

Farmyard birthday theme

Image: Walmart, PartyAlleyApparel, Meri Meri, LemonLimeLagoon

Yeehaw! If you’ve got a country boy or girl in the house—a farmyard theme is the way to go. The first step to pulling off this epic 2-year-old birthday theme? Hunt down a farm-tastic invitation featuring your kiddo’s favorite animals. On the big day dress your little one in comfy overalls layered over a barn animal birthday shirt. Among your second birthday party supplies, you’ll want these animal head visors (an easy way for kids to dress up) and critter centerpieces, each with a barnyard adorned with the number two. Add a few gingham tablecloths, and you’ll be ready to go. Get creative and brainstorm fun, farm-inspired birthday food. Our top picks include: “Bales of hay” (Rice Krispie treats), pigs (in a blanket), deviled eggs in a DIY chicken coop (chicken nuggets work well here too) and a big veggie platter, which can serve as farm produce. If you want to get a little more whimsical, you can also slice fruit using animal-shaped cookie cutters. (The bigger, the better—watermelon and pineapple work great here.) Classic games like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and musical chairs (set against a soundtrack of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”) are perfect for a barnyard bash—but if you want to splurge, you could even have a petting zoo company set up camp.

Under the sea birthday theme

Image: Zazzle, Meri Meri, HashtagCutouts, KitchenDoor

Dive into the deep blue sea for an unforgettable second birthday party. Whether your 2-year-old is obsessed with sharks, mermaids or other aquatic creatures, this theme will go down a storm. Go all in on this whimsical theme and dress your toddler as their favorite sea creature. Decorate with streamers, balloons and real seashells, if possible. Add pops of color to the blue and green color scheme with cut-out red crabs and yellow starfish. For nibbles, serve up goldfish crackers, beach-inspired cookies and fish sticks (smoked salmon is great for the grown-ups). For an extra-special touch create a “coral reef” platter by arranging an assortment of vegetables around a dipping sauce centerpiece. Pick up a blue-frosted cake and complete the look with an ocean-inspired cake topper.

Indoor party ideas

By two years old, your child will be much more active and vocal than they were at their first birthday party, so it’s likely that a bigger, busier party is on the cards!

An indoor birthday party is always a good idea with unpredictable weather to contend with – and if your child has an autumn or winter birthday then it’s probably the safest option.

Hosting a two-year-old birthday party in your own home means your child will be in familiar surroundings (and less daunted by all the people), but if you’re looking at a larger guest list, why not try some of our other indoor party options below?

Your own home

By two years old, your child will already be developing all of their own personal interests, so an at-home party means you have endless freedom to create a personalised theme that feels special to them.

Depending on what your child is into, themes like animals, princesses, dinosaurs, superheroes or fairies are good options that lend themselves well to decorations and dress-up costumes (which could be super cute!).

A party in your own home is also a great way to keep the cost low, and it offers you more control over how many people you invite and how long the party lasts for.

Soft play centres

Now that your child is a little older, they’ll be able to properly enjoy a soft play centre party – more so than when they were younger.

Most soft play centres will have a specific area that caters to young toddlers, so no need to worry about older kids getting in the way. They’ll often offer bookings with a party planner and catering included – so it’s definitely the most hassle-free option!

You can browse your local soft play centres with our handy search tool here – just check that they have a section suitable for two-year-olds, and if you’ll need any adults to supervise.

Village hall or community centre

Your local village hall or play centre is another great indoor party venue, especially if you don’t want to be restricted by the size of your home or the per-head cost of soft play.

Hiring the hall will be the main cost you have to front, plus any added extras like paying for catering or a bouncy castle (ideal for toddlers). And if you want to keep costs down, you can opt to make your own food (just bear the numbers in mind if you’re doing so).

Check out your local halls for hire using our search tool – just remember to check that they offer children’s parties.

Outdoor party ideas

Petting zoo

Now that your toddler is getting older and more curious, a petting zoo is an exciting adventure for them to explore on their birthday. Don’t panic about goats and ponies just yet, though – plenty of venues will offer parties with smaller animals, like guinea pigs, bunnies and chicks. And you’ll be able to snap some super cute photos to look back on!

Garden party

A garden party is the perfect compromise when it comes to an outdoor party that still maintains the familiarity of your own home.

You can decorate the garden with bunting, hire a bouncy castle, or set up play mats with toys. Plus, you have freedom when it comes to the theme, with animal, jungle or dinosaur themes working well outside.

If it’s summertime, then a water play party in shallow paddling pools can be really exciting for two-year-olds. Just of course make sure to supervise at all times.

Picnic

Going for a picnic party is an easy outdoor option that feels more like an adventure than staying in your own home. Bring some finger food and toys out for a picnic, then head to an outdoor play area for the kids to explore. There are plenty of games that can be played on a picnic, like pass the parcel (as long as you clean up afterwards), outdoor puzzles or chalks to draw on concrete.

Who to invite

By two years old, your son or daughter will probably have made more friends from their nursery or play group – but this doesn’t mean they won’t be shy or daunted around bigger groups. Anything up to around eight friends is a good idea and will stop them from becoming overwhelmed. Then, once you add on family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and children of family friends, you’ll have a full list.

If your child is getting into arts and crafts, then sitting down to make some invitations together can be a fun way to get them involved in the planning – and it’ll add a personal touch.

It’s ideal to send out party invites between two and four weeks in advance. If you’re paying in advance for a venue, ordering food from a caterer or buying ingredients yourself, you’ll want to have numbers sorted early – so ask for RSVPs as soon as possible too!

Games and activities

When it comes to games, two-year-olds won’t necessarily be used to following rules, and being kicked out of a game can be upsetting. Avoid activities with too much focus on competition and instead concentrate on having fun. Stocking up on small prizes is also a good idea, so that everyone feels included.

Simple games like musical statues, musical chairs and pass the parcel will excite two year olds – and you can give everyone a prize for taking part.

If games are too tricky, then simply handing out bubbles or setting up a sandpit outside is an easy way to keep toddlers entertained.

You can buy bubble-making machines, too. See more details here at Amazon.

Check out some more party games for two-year-olds here.

Food and drink

Party food

By two years old, your child should have explored a range of different foods and will be able to eat the same things as the older children and adults at the party. Small, bite-sized food is the best option for a toddler’s party, as the kids will be having too much fun to sit down and eat.

If you’re worried about making sure there’s enough food to go around, fill up a cardboard meal box for each child. That way, you know no one will miss out and they can always take it home if they’re having too much fun for food.

With most toddlers being picky eaters, stick to foods that you know they’re probably going to like, such as sausage rolls, mini sausages, finger sandwiches and cheese cubes, as well as low-salt crisps and crackers. For more ideas, check out our party food guide here.

Drinks

For drinks, the healthiest option is to stick to water or milk. If you want to give fruit juice to under-fives, the NHS recommends that you dilute it with 10 parts water to 1 part juice. Older kids can have squash, water or undiluted fruit juice.

The NHS advises against fizzy drinks or flavoured milk for babies and toddlers, but if you want to offer them to older kids then do so after the food, so the kids aren’t too full of sugar to eat anything healthy.

Plus, if you’re at home and are worried about damaging furniture or carpets, keep the food and drink in a designated room or the garden.

Birthday cake

There are plenty of different options for birthday cake, depending on how much of a baker you are! Most supermarkets will sell themed birthday cakes, or if you want something extra personal then your local cake maker will likely be able to whip up something amazing.

For a middle ground hack, you can buy a simple sponge cake and add the personalised decorations yourself. We promise the kids won’t know any different! We’ve got plenty of cake decoration ideas for you to follow here, from castles to trains, to a classic caterpillar cake.

If you fancy baking your own cake, browse our library of recipes, from cupcakes to chocolate cake or rainbow cake, plus gluten free and egg free options, too.

Desserts

For extra dessert options other than cake, it’s a good idea to have some finger bites available, like little chocolate bites (though not too many!) and pieces of fruit.

Kids will also love jelly and ice cream as a dessert – and to make it that touch healthier why not try some of our fruity ice cream recipes? Alternatively, you can serve sorbet as a dairy-free option that goes down a treat with kids.

Gift ideas

By two years old your toddler will be developing their own interests, but they’re also likely to grow out of things quickly which can make buying gifts difficult.

If you don’t want to buy a toy that they’ll shortly be too old for, then a sentimental keepsake like a personalised story book can be a nice memento.

As a practical gift, a toddler’s tricycle is a smart idea as they should be just about ready to start learning (plus, it’ll last them a good few years!).

In terms of toys, chunky Lego is a fun way for your child to learn as they figure out how to build different shapes. Have a browse through some more of the best birthday gifts for two-year-olds here.

Lego Duplo is always a good idea. See more details here at Amazon.

Party bags

As two-year-olds start to be invited to more parties, they’ll quickly get used to receiving a party bag every time they go to one! It can sometimes be tricky to know what to include…

If you’ve thrown a themed party for your child, then having a theme to stick to for the party bags too makes it that bit easier. You can find cute stuffed animals for an animal theme or tiaras for princesses.

A lot of plastic toys are only suitable for children aged three and upwards, so stick to things like play-doh and chunky crayons. Oh, and don’t forget the cake!

Check out more party bag ideas here.

Tips for a great second birthday party

As with any party, planning ahead and getting organised with a list of everything you’ll need to do in advance of the big day will make things whole lot easier. These top tips should help things run even more smoothly:

  • Child-to-adult ratio: If you’ve got quite a few two-year-olds or young toddlers in attendance, then make sure you have enough adults on hand to deal with accidents, as well as any tears or tantrums.
  • Write down the gifts your child receives and who they’re from as soon as your child opens them. You’ll thank yourself later when it comes to writing thank-you notes!
  • Plan the party for the morning or lunchtime. Many two-year-olds will take an afternoon nap, and you don’t want your party to clash. Plus, they’ll likely be tired after just a couple of hours.
  • Be prepared for accidents. Some of your two-year-old guests might have started potty training, so be ready for some potential accidents during your party, and keep cloths and baby wipes handy.
  • Don’t drop your usual rules. Okay, a party is a time for kids to have fun – but that doesn’t mean you should drop your usual rules when it comes to tantrums and misbehaviour. However you usually deal with a tantrum, the best thing to do at a party is to take your child away from the audience, so going to a free room is a good idea.

10 Budget Birthday Party Ideas to Wow Your Toddler’s Mind

Photo by Dejan Ristovski / Stocksy United

It comes once a year, so of course you want it to be super-duper special, but pulling off a toddler birthday party without spending a lot can be a puzzler. Luckily for you, little kids are pretty easy to please. (Did someone say birthday cake?!)

These budget birthday party ideas for toddlers are cost-conscious—but also super easy and fun!

Make a Mess!

There’s no need to spend a bunch of cash when the simple pleasure of getting super messy is every toddler’s dream. (After all, they’d love to scribble on the walls all day, every day without a grown-up saying “no,” if they could.) While this idea works best for warm-weather birthdays, we’ve got a few indoor-friendly ideas for rainy days, too.

Messy Outdoor Birthday Party Ideas

For outdoor activities in sunny weather, prep ahead of time by stocking up on old towels and asking parents to dress their kids in old clothes or bathing suits for the party. Afterward (if you can), set up the sprinkler and let them run through it a few times to get clean.

1. Go wild, Jackson Pollock-style! Put out old sheets or butcher paper on the lawn or driveway or in the garage, buckets of washable paint, and let children have at it Jackson Pollock-style. (You could even hand out goggles.) Bonus points: Dump warm spaghetti in the paint buckets—it splatters beautifully when thrown.

2. Just add water. Two more versions of the wild paint party are to fill water balloons with diluted non-toxic paint and throw them at a sheet, or freeze non-toxic watercolors in ice cube trays and let them paint with the melting cubes. Write a happy birthday message for the honoree with fabric pens.

3. Make a giant mud pie. Fill the kiddie pool with potting soil and water for a good old-fashioned mud pit. Provide some old pie and muffin tins for making that kid-classic: the mud pie. Let the birthday kid blow out the candles on that cake, too!

Messy Indoor Birthday Party Ideas

4. Take a spin! Did you know old salad spinners work great for spin art? Collect three or four salad spinners from thrift stores (or borrow from friends if they’re willing to donate them for a good cause). Place small paper plates into the spinner and let your kid guests squiggle some non-toxic Tempura paint on each plate. Then place the top on the salad spinner and go wild! The result will dazzle their eyes. Have a playdough station handy while they wait their turns.

5. Plane-apalooza! Make paper airplanes out of various papers and materials like printer paper, aluminum foil, and origami paper, and then stage flying contests. You can also build bigger versions of planes out of cardboard or shoe boxes, and decorate them with stickers.

Inviting fewer guests will ultimately mean a more practical price tag, plus it can keep bedlam at bay and foster real connection among little friends who do attend. A general, albeit arbitrary, rule for numbering your invite list: your child’s age plus one. With a smaller crew of kids, you can also (gasp) ask the parents to drop their child off—that way, you don’t have to feed six children and potentially 10 adults, as well.

Small Outdoor Birthday Party Ideas

1. Make a splash! Get out the blow-up pool, blow up the beach balls, and make your own beach party! Water table activities and sandbox fun will round out your little luau. Don’t forget the ice cream cones!

2. Create a backyard carnival. Set up stations for face-painting, plastic bottle ring-toss or corn hole, temporary tattoos, and lawn games like croquet or DIY mini golf (things like cardboard boxes, lawn furniture, plastic cups, and a little imagination are all you need to build a fun course). Added bonus: Find a brave adult who is willing to take a few whipped-cream pies to the face!

Small Indoor Birthday Party Ideas

3. Turning three? Have tea. Never underestimate the power of a dress-up tea party: Have each child bring a favorite doll or stuffed critter as a date. Head to the dollar store and grab some dress-up jewelry (for kids and their lovies), make herbal tea cooled with frozen fruit, and offer plenty of finger sandwiches and cakes.

4. Party with some popcorn and a movie. Throw a movie party with silly costumes so kids can act out their own stories after the showing. While blockbusters are a perennial party-theme favorite, why not try and break the mold with a lesser known film?

5. Bring the love…the puppy love. If you’ve got a toddler who holds a fondness for furry friends, make your own pet adoption shelter and play veterinarian! Head to the thrift store for gently loved stuffies, have a “pet adoption area” and “check-up area” (complete with a veterinarian’s doctor bag), and even offer each guest a “certificate of adoption” for each new pet they get to bring home.

A derby theme birthday is such a classic and cool idea for your tot. Horse and racing elements—including sweet prize ribbons, picket fences, and so on—are all very welcome here. This 2nd birthday theme is traditionally green and white but as shown, any color palette can be beautiful… We are loving the preppy blues and easy neutrals.

Oh

Two-dles Minnie Mouse 2nd Birthday Theme

This party uses the clubhouse catchphrase (“Oh, toodles!”) as a jumping off point for a Minnie-Mouse-themed affair. Consider going all-out with balloons in bright and pale pink; and of course, add lots of bows to the space because that is Miss Mouse’s most famous trademark.

Love You Two the Moon 2nd Birthday Theme

Photo & to Purchase: Soiree Love

Reach for the stars with this gender-neutral 2nd birthday party theme. Sandwiches cut out with moon shaped cookie cutters, even a rocket ship in the corner would be in the right universe. And moon and star motifs displayed among your balloons and paper goods will be an out-of-this-world touch. This is another theme that works with many color ways—but be sure to bring in metallics for some space-age sheen, no matter which direction your planning takes.

Bibbidi Bobbidi TWO 2nd Birthday Idea

Two is the beginning of a true appreciation for the magic of Disney. Give your little princess or prince a dazzling day of fun and glamour with a Cinderella-themed birthday party that’s sure to impress all their fancy friends, from glass-slipper shaped cookies to a dress-up station and extra-special details and displays inspired by the movie, like in the example shown here.

Quickly becoming a modern classic, this adorable 2nd birthday idea will charm your 2-year-old and their friends. We love that the food options built into a tea party are minimal and easy. You can go over-the-top with this theme or execute it simply. Keep an eye on little details like table linens and pretty paper goods, and make sure to teach the pint-sized guests all about pinky-lifting and sandwich-nibbling at their first fancy soirée.

Chugga Two Two 2nd Birthday Theme

Planes, trains, and automobiles… any “things that go” theme is bound to charm your toddler. But if you’d like to narrow it down, may we suggest this absolutely perfect party theme for a 2nd birthday? Chugga Two-Two can be as big or as little as you want to make it, from simple, store-bought Thomas printables and party favors to a custom color scheme and personalized conductor hats.

Nothing speaks to a toddler quite like sweets, so why not create an entire party around… cake! A cake-themed 2nd birthday party gives you lots of flexibility. You will have an absolute blast selecting pretty, inviting details to deck out the space in style for your little sweets-eater. When cake is at the center of the celebration, the details really just need to look like a party

Two Infinity and Beyond 2nd Birthday Idea

Photo: Catch My Party

Another character-forward 2nd birthday idea that satisfies your little one’s love of movies and your propensity toward party planning! Toy Story is that quintessential childhood movie that many of us grew up on and are now enjoying with our little ones. Gather goods on Etsy or Amazon, make your own, or do a mix of all three. Primary colors and familiar faces are all you need to take this cute Disney party idea two the stratosphere.

One TWO Buckle My Shoe 2nd Birthday Theme

Your little goody two-shoes is going to go head over feet for this charming 2nd birthday idea. Any shoe-loving little will enjoy pointing, flexing, tiptoeing, and dancing around their party space in their favorite kicks. Print out coloring sheets, procure shoe-shaped cookie cutters for sandwiches, and give out little princess shoes or cozy slippers as party favors for your two-cute guests.

10 Unique Birthday Party Themes For 2-Year-Olds

It’s true that your toddler likely won’t remember a lot from their second birthday, but that’s no reason to forgo a proper celebration. There are tons of birthday themes that can ensure guests of all ages have a fun time, adults included. Plus, with a little preparation and creativity, you don’t need to spend a fortune on these themed birthday parties.

If you really want to wow guests at your child’s 2nd birthday party, consider one of these on-point themes. The hardest part will be deciding what party theme to go with.

10 Two Infinity & Beyond

Via Flickr

If your toddler is a face of everything space, then use this saying as the theme of your party. Pick up galaxy-themed décor – anything with stars, rocket ships, and aliens will be a perfect fit. Modify children’s games to stay on theme. For instance, instead of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, have kids pin rockets onto a rocket ship.

9 Two Wild

Via Pxhere

There’s a reason they call it the terrible twos, so celebrate your child’s wild side with this adorable theme. Mom-o-party suggests parents pick up jungle-themed décor. But you don’t need to spend a fortune on décor – just look around the house.

You can reuse plants as decoration and break into your child’s toy box to find small animal figurines that will stay on theme.

8 In Two The Deep

If you’re thinking of something Little Mermaid-esque, then go with an “In Two the Deep” theme. Focus the decorations on anything ocean-inspired. You could make the theme largely mermaids or pirates, depending on your child’s specific interests.

This is also a great theme if part of the birthday celebration will take place elsewhere, like at the beach or an aquarium.

7 Don’t Grow Up Too Fast

Via PxHere

Another great idea from Mom-o-party is a ‘Don’t Grow Up Too Fast’ theme, which likely describes how you feel about your child now that they’re turning two. This is a great option for kids (or parents) who love all things cars. Source décor that will make guests feel as though they’re at an F1 race. You can send children home with goodie bags featuring their own toy cars.

6 Monkey See, Monkey Do

Via Raw Pixel

If your child’s favorite animal is a monkey (or they’re a huge Curious George fan), then this theme could be a winner. What Moms Love recommends this theme for its adorableness as well as simplicity. All you need to do is stick to monkey-themed décor. Consider handing out stuffed monkeys as party favors. For food, make sure to incorporate a lot of banana-themed items.

5 Tea For Two

Via PxHere

If you’re looking for an ultra-girly theme, then consider “Tea for Two,” as Lovely Lucky Life suggests. You can set up your toddler’s birthday party like a giant tea party, with feminine décor, adorable pastries, and of course, delicate teacups.

You can even consider hosting the event at a restaurant that specializes in tea parties, so you don’t have to fuss about getting all the décor and good together.

4 Chugga Chugga Two Two

Via Flickr

Trains may say ‘chugga chugga choo choo,’ but at your toddler’s party everyone will be saying ‘chugga chugga two two.’ Many young children are intrigued by the idea of trains, making this a fitting theme for a 2-year-old’s birthday party, especially if your kiddo is a huge fan of Thomas the Tank Engine.

3 Taco Two-sday

via Jeswin Thomas

Another adorable theme that Love Lucky Life recommends is taco two-sday. It’s only appropriate to have the party on a Tuesday with this name. Set up a taco bar for guests, so they can create their own tasty creations and decorate with Mexican-themed décor, so guests will feel like they took an international trip.

Don’t forget to serve other Mexican delicacies to stay on theme, like quesadillas, tamales, and guacamole.

2 Two Sweet

Via PxHere

What toddler doesn’t have a sweet tooth? If that describes your child, then a candy-themed party is a smart way to go. Decorate the venue with colorful décor to make it resemble Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Serve guests a variety of candy and other sweet treats so they can get their fix.

1 Boo! I’m Two!

Via PxHere

Finally, if your toddler will celebrate their birthday around Halloween, consider a spooky bash. Pick up spooky décor, like plates with ghosts or other fictional monsters. Make sure the décor is child-friendly, though, as you don’t want younger guests scared by the theme. Serve fall-themed foods, like pumpkin pie, caramel apples, and candy corn.

If you need an activity for the kids, consider turning on a Halloween-themed movie or show, like Charlie Brown’s The Great pumpkin.

Whether you choose a party theme on this list or something else, we’re sure your toddler’s 2nd birthday is going to be a party to remember (even if they don’t have any memories from it).

How to organize a child’s 2nd birthday: ideas for a children’s party

The first birthday of a child is a solemn event that all parents await with special trepidation. They gather a big magnificent holiday, distant relatives come from all over the world, mothers bake cakes at night and inflate millions of balloons. Mark or not? Of course! It’s the little man’s debut party. And even if the hero of the occasion sweetly sniffed the whole event in his cozy bed, it’s okay! But my mother had fun, rested and talked with all the relatives and guests, whom she missed so much. And if everything is more or less clear and understandable with the first birthday, then a number of questions arise with the second.

How to organize a child’s 2nd birthday? Lush or homey? Will he remember? Does he even need it? Maybe not celebrate at all, he still won’t remember? Mark, mark and mark again! Birthday is always a great occasion to give yourself and your baby a sense of celebration, gather guests and once again remember how dear you are to each other.

And organizing a holiday for a two-year-old is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Even if you disappear at work from morning to night and you have absolutely no time to make a clown costume, bake a cake and inflate balloons after the Good Night, Kids program.

We have collected for you celebration ideas that a two-year-old and his guests will definitely like, and in one article we have highlighted the most important points that require your undivided attention. And if your diary is filled to overflowing with urgent matters, the Sea Show team will be happy to take the organization of your holiday into their capable hands. Just call +7 (495) 477-52-23. And the holiday will appear on the appointed day, as if by magic.

Firstly, the baby has most likely already started watching cartoons and listening to mother’s fairy tales before going to bed. He has favorite characters and stories in which he wants to be. Someone is crazy about Smesharikov, someone sleeps with puppies from the “Paw Patrol”, and someone at the age of two already considers himself a real princess. These are ready-made ideas for a children’s birthday! It remains only to get a magic wand and teleport the guests and the birthday boy to a fairy-tale land.

Secondly, by the age of two, the baby has already acquired social contacts. Surely he made friends on the playground, in the nursery group of the kindergarten, among the children of his mother’s friends, with whom they periodically play while their mothers drink coffee in the kitchen or on the veranda of a summer cafe. The party promises to be crowded! It remains for us to print beautiful invitation cards and send them to all the guests. They won’t have a chance to refuse. By the way, the Sea Show team will come up with the text and design of invitations especially for your holiday. If it is not possible to present invitations in person, do not despair. You can always send a beautifully designed virtual postcard in your favorite messenger. Not so romantic, but it saves time.

By the way, it is better to make a list of guests in advance in order to know exactly how many people to count on. Have them at least nod or send a “We will!” emoji. After all, the choice of the place of the future celebration will depend on the number of people.

So, you have decided – to be a holiday! Made a list of guests, decided on the date and time and want to send invitations. But you can’t… Because you have to invite guests somewhere, not in general. Before you invite all your relatives, dear ones and loved ones to a party on the occasion of the second anniversary of a small but very important person, you should decide on a place. In two years, there are not many options. And this is a very big plus! When the variety is amazing, making a choice can be oh so difficult.

First celebration option

So, option number one is to celebrate your baby’s 2nd birthday at home. It’s simple and saves you a fortune on renting a kid’s space at a cafe or entertainment center. But one important condition: you must be ready to receive a large number of people, tune in advance not to worry about every broken glass and every stain on the wallpaper from childish spontaneity, and understand whether you have enough space for a noisy banquet.

If you live in a house with a private yard, you can organize an open-air party. Unless, of course, your two-year-old was born in January or February. Otherwise, a home holiday has one important advantage. The baby is accustomed and comfortable in the home walls. And this will save him and his mother’s nervous systems from overload. And if the birthday boy or one of the guests wants to sleep, then you can always retire in the next room.

Issues that will have to be resolved before the moment X, when the guests appear on the doorstep, are the design of the space and the festive table. If there is a desire and time, a mother can independently turn a house or apartment into a fairy-tale land. Sometimes a couple dozen balloons and bright dishes are enough for this. If there is no time and opportunity, the Sea Show decor department will come up with, bring to reality, bring and take away the most fabulous decor in your life, designed specifically for your holiday and space. Just give us a call and we will save you a lot of time and effort.

Second celebration option

Option number two is to teleport the celebration to the children’s room of the entertainment center. So you leave your house or apartment safe and sound after the invasion of a crowd of two-year-olds. And save yourself the hassle of having to do a spring cleaning after all the fun. By the way, often entertainment centers offer the services of animators and options for decorating the hall. Often you can just buy a package service “Children’s Party” and close many questions for yourself in one fell swoop. It is convenient and saves a lot of time. And the artists of the Sea Show with the program can come to any point in Moscow and Moscow Region at your first call. Our all-knowing managers will help with the choice of space for the upcoming biennium. For 10 years of work, they have not held children’s holidays only on the Moon. Although soon, probably, they will be able to!

The place was chosen. Now we need to decide on the theme of the upcoming biennium. There are universal scenarios for the second birthday of a child that both the boy and the girl will definitely like. For example, “The jungle is calling!” or Fairy Circus. They are suitable for those kids who do not yet watch cartoons or have not decided on their favorite characters. If the kid has favorites among the cartoons, then choosing a theme is easy. Smeshariki, Fixiki, Paw Patrol, fairies and even Masha and the Bear will come to you for a holiday and create a fairy tale for your baby.

There is a large selection of topics in the Sea Show arsenal that only girls will like. For example, favorite Barbies, princesses, princesses and other heroines of girly cartoons. In the life of every girl, sooner or later her first ball will come. So why not come at two years old?

Holiday scenarios for boys are more brutal. Knights, superheroes of all stripes and transformers just love to go to children’s parties. They know a lot about real fun! And if the guests support the theme of the holiday with suitable costumes, magic can happen that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Topic selected. Now you need to think about the design of the hall. Here again there are two options.

The first option is simple and budget.
Decorate the space with balloons and colored ribbons. It will not take much time and effort from mom, and will create a festive mood.

The second option is more complex and energy-intensive.
You will have to think carefully, prepare and turn the chosen space into a fairy tale. So, if you want to organize a princess ball, you need to transform the living room or children’s room in the entertainment center into a ballroom by all means and available means.

Do not forget about the throne, a table for ceremonial receptions, crowns for guests and a place for dancing. It is advisable to organize a photo zone so that each of the guests can get fabulous photos as a keepsake. Every mom is a superman. If she tries very hard and does not sleep for a couple of weeks, then she will definitely be able to create a complete immersion in a fairy tale with her own hands. But if a superhero mom gives all her strength to work and save the world, then the wizards from the Sea Show will gladly take over the organization of the holiday.

Now it’s time to think about costumes. A universal dress code will help create a sense of fairy tale and magic. What is a royal ball without princes and princesses? And what’s a jungle party without little lion cubs and monkeys? If you choose costumes that match the theme, then the holiday promises to be unforgettable. And if you chose a neutral theme, then a smart dress for a girl and a bow tie for a boy close the issue with the dress code for a biennial party. Two outfit requirements:

  1. Children should be comfortable. Barbed zippers or sequins in strange places can spoil the mood of even the calmest two-year-old.

  2. There should always be one more suit or dress in stock. Cases are different, and no one canceled the cake.

What will we eat? The menu for the children’s birthday is another item on the list of questions for the mother of the birthday. Again, if there is time, opportunity and desire, you can organize the first, second, third and compote with your own hands. And if there is no time, then nobody canceled delivery and catering. Whether or not there will be a main course and a cutlet with potatoes is up to you. But children on holidays do not like to sit at the table for a long time, as we adults do. Usually they intercept something on the run without interrupting the fun. Therefore, it is often quite possible to get by with light snacks.

But what no children’s holiday can do without is without a cake and a candy bar. This is a must have for any kids party. Candy Bar is a magical place, a buffet with sweets of different varieties and colors. We know all the life hacks for organizing candy bars at children’s parties. For example: do not use chocolate and ice cream, which will quickly turn into a sticky something. But desserts on sticks and for one bite are exactly what you need! Sea Show confectioners will decorate a candy bar for princesses, knights, smeshariki, fixies and any other heroes. Such beauty is even a pity to eat! But that doesn’t stop the kids! The task of parents is to have time to photograph sweets before the children crush them in the first 15 minutes.

The culmination of any celebration is a cake. Friends and their parents will be happy to help the birthday man make his most cherished wish and blow out two whole candles. Prepare matches, the kids have many desires. And one of them is to blow out the candle first!

That’s all. If you start organizing a holiday not the day before the celebration, but devote time to this, then everything will work out and will definitely work out. And if you emerged from the office and realized that your birthday is in 2 days, and you still have nothing ready, feel free to call Sea Show – we can make a holiday from scratch even in a day. Checked!

How to celebrate a child’s birthday at home 2 years old

The birthday of a two-year-old child, first of all, is a holiday for parents. They rejoice at every new day of the baby, and his birthday becomes a significant event, so parents need to try especially hard on this holiday. The child will be happy with a big tasty cake on the table and bright colors around it. So what do mom and dad need to do to make their birthday memorable?

For the biennium there are more options to diversify the holiday. The child already understands some things, there are various interests, which means that it becomes easier to entertain him. A special point in the celebration are friends who may appear in the circle of other parents from the yard or have children with acquaintances and friends. With other children, the child will be much more comfortable and more fun.

2 years is already a serious date, so it should be approached responsibly. However, this does not mean that there is an impossible goal.

It is possible to achieve what you want if you have an idea and options for celebrating. Parents are encouraged to divide the birthday into two parts. One of them will be to decorate the festive table, decorate the house and gather guests. The second will be connected with the preparation of the script for the holiday. Children love beautiful cakes. Photo:youngtexanmama.com

Places to celebrate

Today you can find many entertainment spaces for children. There, a child with friends can have fun playing the rides. It is better to book the room in advance so that there are no extra people. Also, such organizations provide clients with animators who will provide children with a good time. In this case, parents do not have to think about the script. But we must not forget about the sweet table, which can be organized at home or in the entertainment center.

When choosing animators, and especially their costumes, you should be careful. The hero can cause negative emotions in children, even if he seemed rather cute.

The children will be unhappy and start hysterical, as a result of which the holiday will be disrupted.

Home variant is more suitable. You may have to work on it, but the child will feel comfortable and it is unlikely that the children will not like something. The advantages of spending holidays at home are the presence of the child’s favorite toys, a sweet table and the presence of parents and friends nearby. Adults do not have to travel anywhere, taking with them bags of food and other things for competitions.

Before the arrival of guests, it is imperative to take care of cleanliness, and also try to remove all objects that children can drop or get hurt.

Whom to invite

First of all, you should invite the closest people. It can be grandparents, uncle, aunt, or just good friends, especially if they also have small children. In general, there should be at least 1-2 children at the birthday party so that the birthday person is not bored.

Invitation

Holiday mood should appear not only at home. If parents have the opportunity to distribute beautiful invitation cards to future guests, then this must be done. Even adults will be pleased to remember their childhood years. When receiving an invitation in the form of a postcard, it is unlikely that anyone will be able to refuse and not come to the holiday.
Don’t forget the holiday caps. You need to buy them for everyone and hand them at the entrance to the house.

Birthday ideas

On the holiday, you can make children happy by moving them into a fairy tale or a movie. To do this, you need to choose an idea for a holiday. You can choose from famous fairy tales or film projects. One of the interesting options for a boy is a holiday in costumes of pirates, heroes from Marvel or DC superhero films, Smeshariki, etc. Ideas with beautiful dresses are more suitable for girls.

Choose a style based on your child’s preferences. You just have to watch which cartoons or fairy tales he likes the most. With a choice, it is better to be careful in order to please the birthday man’s preference. It is also necessary to warn guests with children so that they prepare in advance for the chosen style.

Design ideas

Before the arrival of guests, it is necessary to prepare and decorate not only the child’s room, but the whole house or apartment. To do this, you will need balls, garlands, multi-colored ribbons, etc. You can also prepare posters with printed photographs of the birthday man. They can be drawn up on whatman paper by gluing a photo there, and in the center write the number two.

Photozone

The child’s birthday must be photographed. You can do them throughout the event. Children can be maimed by contests, games, or just eating at the table. These moments are perfect for capturing on camera. The saved photos can be shown to your child in a few years, and parents will also remember how they prepared a celebration in honor of his birthday. Also, all invited guests will be pleased to receive a photo from the holiday later.

Choosing a costume for a baby

Clothes are one of the main colors of the event. You can choose an outfit for a child, based on both his preferences and in accordance with the chosen style.

Boys

Boys can choose a classic suit with a bow tie around their neck. Classic is always in fashion, and it looks especially beautiful on kids. You can also choose a themed costume. It can display a character from a cartoon, movie or fairy tale. You can buy them on various websites or in children’s stores. You can also buy paraphernalia for costumes (magic wands, daggers for pirates, etc. ). One of the highlights in the appearance of the boy is the hairstyle. If he has long and medium hair, then you can fill it with varnish or gel, making any hairstyle.

For a girl

You can dress up a girl in a beautiful and fluffy dress. Don’t forget about the princess hair too. One common option is curls. You can also use hairspray and special glitter. Thus, the girl will be in the center of attention, and look like a real princess.

Organization of the festive table

All guests will gather at the table, so the selection of dishes on the menu should be special. It is clear that children will only want sweets, but not a single holiday is complete without meat dishes and salads. Various types of meat products can be cut into small pieces and put on plates. It is also worth making salads, the recipes of which are quite a lot. However, before preparing meals, it is better for parents of children to find out if they have allergies to any products.

We must not forget about fruits and juices on the table. Juice in beautiful glasses and neatly cut fruit will perfectly complement the festive atmosphere.

Animal or figurine shaped sandwiches can be made. The kids will definitely like them and they will have a snack before dessert.

CandyBar (sweet table)

No birthday is complete without sweets. The candy bar usually includes: cupcakes, fruits and berries, cake pops (biscuit on a stick), air marshmallows, cookies, eclairs and other goodies. Most importantly, they should be prepared from ingredients that are healthy for children.

Children love sweets. Photo: welcometothemousehouse.com

As for drinks, you can offer ordinary water in bottles with nipples, lemonade and fruit drink. There may be allergies among the kids, so before the holiday, talk about sweets with their parents.

The most important thing for a sweet table is decoration. If you already have a thematic idea for a birthday, then use ready-made templates, if not, then use bright colors, depending on whether you have a boy or a girl.

All utensils with which babies come into contact must be made of cardboard or high-quality plastic so that children do not break or injure anything.

There are no rules in the design of a candy bar, you just need to imagine yourself as a two-year-old toddler. The main task is to attract attention, so do not be afraid to experiment, and the kids will definitely like everything.

Candy bar can be a great place for a photo zone.

Games and competitions

For fun, you can prepare competitions in which children and adults can participate.

Sounds of animals and nature

To participate in the competition, you will need to download the sounds of nature and animals from the Internet.

The meaning of the competition is to guess each sound. You can also diversify the game and set a rule to physically respond to sounds. For example, at the sound of a bird, fly like a bird, and when it rains, take cover under an umbrella. There are many options, so only the number of sounds is important here.

Wave

This competition calls for a fabric 3-4 meters long. The fun of the contest is that two adults hold the fabric, then abruptly lift it up. Children must run for a certain period of time. The one who didn’t make it, lost. This game will whet the appetite for children, after which they will eat willingly.

Dancing with toys

In children’s stores you can find balloons in the form of cartoon characters. They are inexpensive and children can dance with them. You only need to turn on children’s music and start dancing.

Choice of item

The contest represents the Cathedral’s choice of item that only one member of the family uses the most. It is necessary to put the personal belongings of dad, mom, grandma, grandpa, etc. into the box. The child must take the item out of the box and give it to the person whose item it is. It is especially interesting to watch the reaction if all family members use the thing. We must not forget about cheerful music and the praise of the child.

Mother’s ponytail

Two mothers are required for the contest. On each of them you need to hang a ribbon at the level of the belt, which will hang down to the floor. Children should run after the “tail”. It is desirable for mothers to show artistry and pretend to be cats.

Tasks in socks

If the kids are tired of the wild fun and want some mystery, then this competition is perfect. For him, you will need to lay out leaflets with tasks in colored socks. Children need to take a sock and complete the task that lies in it.

What tasks can be written:

  • Duckling dance;
  • humming your favorite song;
  • show the specified animal.
Theater

If the house or relatives have toys of popular cartoons (Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs, etc.), then they will definitely come in handy. The meaning of the theater is to stage a cartoon. Here, adults will have to try to become as similar as possible to the cartoon characters. Kids will love the live theatre!

Culmination of the holiday

Cake is the main dessert at the table. It is necessary and should be tasty and beautiful. It’s hard to find something original in grocery stores, so it’s better to order it. Don’t forget about the birthday. It is advisable to choose a cake with the number two, as well as put two candles.

Briefly about the main

  1. Children’s holiday is a significant event for parents and relatives.
  2. Decorate a house or apartment;
  3. Prepare dishes and sweets;
  4. Make invitations for each guest, as well as distribute a cap;
  5. Capture interesting moments with a camera;
  6. Play games and hold contests;
  7. Buy original cake.

One of the problems that can appear at a birthday party is parting. Children may begin to act up because the day is coming to an end and everyone needs to go home. This can be avoided by giving the birthday boy and his friends a walk on the street. There they will breathe fresh air, and there will be no problems with going home.

It is recommended to work on the holiday so that parents and children will remember it. You can even shoot a movie on a camcorder to watch in the future. A responsible approach to the preparation of the event will provide all guests and the traitor with a good mood.

How to celebrate a child’s birthday at 2 years old?

Children’s birthday

Two years is, perhaps, the age at which a child for the first time is a conscious participant in his own birthday. For most parents, their baby is the greatest value, and they prepare much more intensively for his holiday than for their own. This approach is correct, but let’s not forget that the hero of the occasion is already an independent person, which means that the event should revolve around him and be interesting for the child, and not just for the invited adults.

Features

To correctly and sensibly celebrate a child’s birthday, you need to understand what a birthday person is like at 2 years old. In fact, many experts believe that the scenario of the first celebration in life as a whole can be repeated and it’s not worth it to puzzle too much over inventing a full-fledged scenario for the hero of the occasion – simply because he still won’t remember what is happening. However, one should also not forget that the holiday, first of all, is for the baby, which means that he should be at least just interested.

At the age of two, any child already has some preferences in everything that surrounds him. Some games he likes and others he doesn’t, and the same pickiness is seen in fairy tales and cartoons. Aloud, the birthday boy is unlikely to talk about what he likes, but parents should understand how to please their child in their everyday reaction. All this information should be correctly played up when choosing a theme for the holiday: all irritants should be removed, surrounding the hero of the occasion with only what he is interested in. However, we will talk about the choice of topics a little later.

In the meantime, it is worth paying attention to the fact that at the age of two, a baby can already be quite a social person. It all depends on the conditions in which the child was brought up up to this point – while some have to “squeeze out” every word (especially in the presence of other people’s uncles and aunts), others are happy to make contact and chat incessantly. Of course, it’s too early to talk about the presence of friends, but if it turned out that communication with peers is already taking place in one form or another, it may be worth organizing such a company on your birthday.

In general, the guests will be mostly adults, but, again, remember that this is a child’s holiday, not yours, so you should not invite people whom the birthday boy has never seen and who is not very interested in him.

Children’s celebration is best done in a playful way, but your ideas, of course, must be implemented by the efforts of a two-year-old child. There can be no question of strict adherence to the script – if the kid suddenly doesn’t like it, he must give up what causes him grief, even if the preparation of the competition or game took a lot of time and effort.

If there are several children at the party, in all competitions the kids should participate only in a team with adults – the birthday boy can simply be afraid that he was put in the center in front of everyone and wants something. It is best to come up with contests that do not involve obvious losers – even adult participants should not have a hint of disappointment on their faces, because the hero of the occasion is not as incomprehensible as someone might think.

Entourage is a separate issue. Let the child not remember this day, but today he should feel good without any reservations. An integral attribute of the holiday is a large figure showing how old the hero of the occasion is – you can buy it in the form of a balloon, make it yourself from cardboard or colored paper, or simply hang photos on the wall in such an order that they resemble a deuce.

If you prudently do not spend the holiday at the time when the children are supposed to sleep, then bright garlands and festive streamers will be appropriate, but not in excessively large quantities, otherwise you will not be able to put the child to bed until late at night.

Keep in mind that children, especially if there are several of them, are not interested in sitting at the table with you – they love to crawl and frolic. They have a lot of desire for continuous movement, but with the ability to stay on their feet, not crashing into anything, so far the trouble is, then let them have fun downstairs, as long as it is safe. For the sake of this, an entire relaxation zone is being assembled for them, for the “construction” of which absolutely any soft objects are suitable: pillows, blankets, mats, or, if available, a pear chair. You can combine all this in the most unexpected combinations to build a whole town.

Choosing a theme

Although a small child does not need a harsh scenario, it is still better to celebrate the baby’s birthday in a certain entourage, which, as we said, should correspond to the tastes and preferences of the birthday person. Here are some good thematic examples to inspire or even imitate.

  • Small builder. The best option for a boy – there is no such kid who did not try to build or repair something in childhood. Here, however, consider another point: it is often more interesting for a child to break rather than build, so a good organizer, in addition to a conditional block constructor, will also provide a toy hammer – to make it more convenient to crush. Toy equipment for the entourage will also be in the subject.

Congratulations in the form of road signs can add color, and the overall range is best kept in black and orange tones.

  • Tutti frutti. Although formally such a scenario is suitable for a child regardless of gender, it is often considered optimal for a girl. This is where you don’t have to rack your brains much – it is important that there are as many different fruits as possible on the table, not only tasty, but also beautiful! Printed images of fruits are also hung on the walls, but preferably not those that are not on the table – why tease the appetite of those present in vain? In games, fruit motives are also pursued, if there are toys in the form of fruits, it’s generally excellent.
  • Young farmer. Another option that will be equally interesting to children of any gender, because many kids are very fond of the theme of animals, as well as bright and beautiful vegetables and fruits. If the child has at least a general idea of what the garden looks like, then such a scenario may be very interesting to him.

For color, you can use a scarecrow model in the interior of the room, toys in the form of any agricultural implements, be it rakes, shovels or buckets, decorative bags of hay.

In a similar way, parents can come up with a specific theme for the celebration and create props for a home event with their own hands. If it is decided to celebrate not at home, but in some public institution, entirely focused on young visitors, then the local animators will offer a lot of interesting ideas and active assistance in creating the required entourage. Thanks to this approach, it is not at all difficult to organize a believable holiday in the style of, for example, Masha and the Bear.

Overview of entertainment

Both children and adults need to do something interesting at the festival – you can’t just eat all the time! The entertainment program will consist of very simple games for the birthday boy and his friends, if invited, but adults can afford competitions in their circle – they can solve more complex problems and will not be too upset even if they lose.

Competitions

If an adult company celebrates in a sense separately from the kids, then full-fledged competitions can be invented for them – with the only difference that the theme of the hero of the occasion or childhood as a whole must be disclosed. Here are some good ideas.

  • Birthday quiz. There are no random guests at such a celebration, but you can always check which of those present knows better a few facts about the life of the hero of the occasion. Questions are given to the participants in random order and in equal numbers, they relate to what time the child was born and in what maternity hospital, what is his favorite food now, a cartoon, and so on. The winner is determined by the most correct answers and can claim a symbolic prize.
  • Let’s remember childhood. Having gathered at a child’s place for a holiday, adults inevitably remember their own childhood. This idea can be turned into a game if the conditional presenter shows the guests the heroes of popular cartoons of past decades, and they will have to guess who is meant. Alternatively, the host can change – whoever guesses correctly will be the next host. Then it is logical that the cards with the characters be painted in advance, and everyone draws them at random.
Games

Entertainment for toddlers should be subordinate to the general theme of the holiday, or at least not explicitly contradict it. Above, we have proposed three different options for a thematic holiday – accordingly, we will offer one game for each of them, and then you yourself will show your imagination and diversify the program of the evening.

  • Roads with obstacles. One of the versions of the good old maze with obstacles in the form of pillows, toys and similar harmless things. You can walk around such a town on foot or “drive a car”, which the kids will surely be very happy about.
  • Fruit coloring. Why not – children are very fond of such entertainment, and it fits perfectly into the Tutti-frutti format. Naturally, we will color the fruits. At the same time, kids should not be driven into the generally accepted framework – even if they completely mix up the colors and draw you a blue apple or a green peach, they are just having fun, not passing the exam.
  • Horse racing. Typical “farming” fun that kids will love. As a horse, use everything that even remotely looks like it – if there is no mask in the form of a head of the required size, stuff a sock with synthetic winterizer and put it on a stick. Jumping is more fun to the music, and even more so – in the company of true friends!

How to finish the holiday in an original way?

Because of a child’s whim, the hero of the occasion may want to end the celebration earlier than planned, and to prevent this from happening, you just need to remember that fatigue in two-year-old children is expressed, unlike an adult, more pronounced. Therefore, the end of the evening should be relatively early, but such that the guests not only do not get offended, but also understand that the scenario is logically completed.

These are the options for a beautiful finish.

  • A rhyme of gratitude on behalf of the hero of the occasion. One of the adults reads it, expressing gratitude supposedly from the kid himself with a clear hint that I really liked it, but I was tired. This option is good because it can be played even with an unforeseen end of the evening – it will turn out very believable. Of course, the rhyme is read after the tired birthday man was taken to bed.
  • Distribution of gifts to guests. Arriving people hardly expect that they will get gifts on someone else’s birthday – the more it will surprise and delight them. Sweets or small toys for children, photographs of the hero of the occasion or CDs with a film about him for adults are an unambiguous signal that the holiday is over, but if someone could have been disappointed by this, then it is leveled by a pleasant surprise.
  • Launching sky lanterns or balloons into the sky. Later, a few years later, fireworks will be a chic option – now it will rather scare a child. But something beautiful and bright that flies into the sky is very spectacular and symbolic. The main thing is not to go too far, otherwise it may seem to the baby that he has just lost the most important thing, because in his eyes the most valuable thing is what looks beautiful.

How to celebrate a 2 year old child’s birthday.

Your child’s second birthday

June 17, 2015

180.418

Are you going to celebrate your child’s second birthday? Then get down to business. We offer you our vision of how to celebrate the birthday of a child of 2 years.

Step 1. Prepare the musical accompaniment

Music can truly work wonders. It will create a great mood for both the birthday boy, the guests, and you, the parents. Take the time in advance and prepare the appropriate musical compositions. We even recommend dividing everything into blocks: music for meeting guests, for dancing, for competitions, for the time of cutting the cake, for a meal, etc. It’s just that somewhere you need a calm, somewhere cheerful, etc.

Step 2. Decorate the room with balloons, garlands and other paraphernalia

You can make a mix: hang some ordinary balloons, but to make it look even more spectacular, decorate the room with helium balloons. They are, of course, more expensive, but they look very cool. When placing an order, ask them to deliver on the Day of the Holiday in the morning, guessing when the baby will sleep. Ask the strings to be made more authentic so that both the birthday man and his little guests can pull the strings and play with the balls, and not just look at them.
You can also decorate the room with garlands, toys, etc. You can attach the baby to the decoration on the eve of the holiday, he will probably be interested in it. Just do not forget to comment on everything, rejoice, play with the baby in parallel, so that this process gives him pleasure.

Step 3. Making a wall newspaper for a child’s birthday at 2 years old

Buy whatman paper or even several, or take a piece of wallpaper. It is up to you to decide how big your wall newspaper will be. Involve your child in its design. This can be a fun activity for you and your little one in the days leading up to a birthday.
What to post on the wall newspaper dedicated to the second birthday? Photos of a child with funny captions, handwritten or printed funny stories, create a list of the child’s achievements for the year, his favorite foods, games, so that everyone can get acquainted. And you can also make a mini-exhibition of drawings, applications and crafts of the baby.

Step 4. Collective congratulations

It will also be interesting for guests to write, and then for parents and the baby to read congratulations, namely a collective congratulation. Buy a large postcard or prepare a designed drawing paper in advance, where guests will write congratulations for the baby. By the way, not only adults can do this, little guests can draw something, and parents will help sign the drawings. Then it will be possible to take a joint photo of all the guests and after the holiday print it out and attach it to all the congratulations. Then it will be interesting not only to read, but also to watch.

Step 5. Photo and video

Older guests will be interested in seeing photos of the child, as well as a video (video film) dedicated to the holiday “Child’s Birthday 2 Years Old”. Photos can simply be launched from a computer in the form of a slide show to the music, or, having prepared in advance, they can be arranged as a presentation with comments, inserts about the development of the child (for example, “how we conquered the potty”, “mother’s helper”, etc. ). That is, there will be some dynamics, not just photos one after another, but an interestingly arranged photo story about the second year of the child).

And if you have the opportunity to make a video or a video on the child’s second birthday, that’s just wonderful. To do this, you need to “dig deeper” in advance and master the basics of video programs, since the Internet is always ready to tell you what’s what. You can involve someone close to this task. Ask your friends, for sure one of the guys knows how to do this. After all, many have a home video of the baby. And here you can interestingly edit, overlay titles, add music. It will be very sweet and touching. If desired, as a gift, you can give a recorded disc with a video about the child to close guests. This is a very memorable and unusual gift.

Also, the advantage of having a video about a child is the fact that while adults are watching it, they do not interfere with the kids. You can enjoy playing with the kids.
Another interesting activity for adults will be comparing a photo of a child with parents, grandparents at the same age. You can prepare ordinary printed photos, or you can scan parental ones and already look at everything on the computer screen. This is also an interesting and entertaining procedure for adults.

Step 6. Gifts for a 2 year old

To make it easier for your guests, and also to ensure that only the things they need and want are presented to your child, make a list of what you can give the birthday man and send to your loved ones. They will be grateful to you, as you will make it easier for them to find a gift. Just carefully manage the process (specify who will give what) so that you don’t get the same gift twice.

By the way, if there are little guests at the celebration, they will also be pleased to receive small presents. After all, children do not always understand why everything is given to only one. So beautiful bright bags with small things – soap bubbles, magnets, something tasty, small toys, sets of crayons, etc. – will not cost much, but will greatly inspire the little guests.

Step 7. Attributes for the birthday of a child 2 years old

Prepare all paraphernalia in advance – caps on your head, soap bubbles, everything for contests, games, etc.

Step 8. Thinking over the menu for the birthday of a child 2 years old

It is hard to imagine a real bright holiday without a feast. Be sure to consider the age of the children when preparing holiday dishes. So you should not give heavy food (fried, with mayonnaise, etc.) to small children. It is better to immediately think over a light menu, and devote more time and imagination to decorating dishes.

But for adults, you can set a separate table. It is good if the apartment has the opportunity to put a children’s table in one room, and for adults in the other. If this cannot be done, think about how to combine dishes for children and adults.
For children, it is better to buy bright disposable tableware, beautiful napkins, etc.

By the way, remember that it would be nice to first let the children play enough, treating them lightly with snacks, and then lay out the table. After all, if the table immediately stands in the middle of the room, then, alas, children will not be able to play there.

How to celebrate a child’s second birthday at home

If you have a themed party

  • Space party

Decorate the balloons with stars made of paper or foil (the main thing is to make sure that the child does not get hurt if he wants to pick up the balloon).

  • Marine

Glue eyes, ponytails. Let your balls become fish.

  • Pirate

Make faces on one-eyed pirate balloons with bandages. You can decorate the rest with the appropriate attributes – images of treasure chests, sabers, parrots.

  • Forest

    Build animals with balloons.

  • Cartoon

Let each balloon turn into a character from your child’s favorite cartoon.

You can make a giraffe, a dog and other animals out of long balls without anyone’s help.

DIY

Balloons should not be the only decoration. Try to create a festive atmosphere in all corners of the apartment. The arch of multi-colored balls looks very festive. It is not necessary to order it and spend a lot of money for 1 day. Here you can learn how to make a cool balloon arch with your own hands.

Draw a poster – have it in bright colors. You can stick cute and funny baby pictures on it. The poster can be saved and, after many years, shown to an adult baby.

You can also put a stable vase with decorative branches, for example, and decorate them with photos of the “hero of the occasion” 🙂 Believe me, the guests will love it. It will be interesting for them to consider the periods of growing up of the child, funny situations with him, which you recorded in the photo.

Hang homemade garlands on the walls. They can be made from photographs, cut out pictures, images of characters, flowers, soft pompoms – any creative ideas will successfully fit into the holiday atmosphere. It is worth noting that not only horizontal, but also vertical garlands are now very popular. You can make Chinese lanterns.

Paper cartoon images can be stuck on cupboards, attached to curtains, hung on strings, on doorknobs – let everyone in the house announce the upcoming holiday.

Decorating a boy’s room

In a boy’s room decorated for the holiday, masculine motives should prevail. Decorate walls, cabinets, curtains with images of cars, pirates, cowboys, weapons. If you know what kind of cartoons and what characters your baby loves, be sure to prepare their pictures.

Girls
  • It is better to choose pastel colors;
  • Balloons and poster should be feminine;
  • Refresh the image of the apartment with flowers or their images, hang a garland, bows, pompoms. Use glitter.

Let your daughter feel like a real princess on this day!

Top 5 ideas for children’s birthday (1-3 years old) – Children’s Birthday in Kharkov .

№ 1. WHOM TO INVITE

Only the closest people. It is better that their number does not exceed 6-7 people. If your baby is actively interested in “their own kind”, be sure to call other kids. But by no means peers! The baby can quickly lose interest in them and get bored. Children of two or three years old are also not the best company – most likely, they will perceive the birthday boy as a toy and may inadvertently hurt him. Younger preschoolers (2-3 people) are the best option. The baby will watch with interest how they play, and will surely try to join in the entertainment.

No. 2. HOW TO TREAT

This is exactly the case when a completely traditional table with appetizers, hot and dessert is suitable.

No. 3. HOW TO ENTERTAIN THE CHILDREN

A one-year-old baby will love games that involve his favorite toys. At first glance, they may seem quite simple, but your child will surely be delighted if older friend Misha shows you how to jump on a fitball, and the girl Anya teaches you how to set the table for doll tea. It’s good if you can organize such joint games for younger preschoolers and the hero of the occasion, which will be of interest to all children. The fail-safe option is drawing. Glue several sheets of drawing paper in advance – you will get a large “canvas” on which you can draw with pencils, felt-tip pens or paints, including finger paints. By the way, the resulting masterpiece will be a wonderful memory of the celebration.

№ 4. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

FORTUNE FOR THE FUTURE . One of the most popular native Russian traditions, which has taken root in our days. A number of items are laid out in front of the birthday man: a ring (successful marriage or marriage), a wallet (wealth), a dumbbell (health), a book (intellectual abilities), paints (creative abilities). Now it remains only to wait for what your baby chooses and correctly decipher the results.

FUN QUIZ . Prepare questions that would directly relate to the birthday man: what was the weight of the crumbs at birth, what color was his spring overalls, favorite song or favorite dish of the baby. Do not forget to prepare small gifts for the participants, for example, calendars with photos of the birthday boy.

FIND THE DIFFERENCE . On an A3 sheet, attach three photos of a one-year-old age: yours, the father of the child and the baby himself. Let the guests mark who the birthday boy looks more like. Want to make it more fun? Then, under the photographs, sign the parts of the face: nose, mouth, eyes, cheeks. Perhaps the guests will decide: the baby took something from dad, something from mom.

SURPRISE POT . Arrange medium-sized plastic flower pots in a row, hide gifts for little guests under them. Have the kids take turns hitting one of the pots with a ball from a short distance (about a meter). In case of a successful throw, the baby will be able to lift the pot and pick up the gift.

GET TO TARGET . Cut out 4 pairs of footprints from heavy cardboard for each baby, the size of a baby’s foot. Invite the children to get from the beginning of the room to its end, stepping only on the tracks, but without touching the floor.

Hide and seek on the trail . Tie a long rope to the toy mouse – 5-6 meters. Hide the toy, and run the rope across the floor, run it under the chairs, in some places stretch it across the table. Tell the kids a story about a mouse that came running to congratulate the birthday boy and hid. Invite the children to follow the trail – a long tail – a rope.

TREASURE HUNTING . In five-liter pots (there should be as many of them as there are children at the holiday). Pour a sufficient amount of any cereal. Hide a few walnuts in each pot. Invite each child to find these nuts in the bowls of cereal.

DRAGING . The popular round dance “Loaf-loaf” can be replaced with other similar games. Everyone gets up in a round dance and moves in a circle: “We quickly inflate the ball, it becomes big! (Hands spread apart.) The ball suddenly burst, became thin! (They lower the handles down and, without disengaging them, run to the center of the round dance. )”.

№ 5. WHAT NOT TO DO

  • When inviting children to a party, do not arrange noisy entertainment. Not every baby will appreciate them.
  • Story games and puppet shows are hardly suitable for a one-year-old – kids under three years old are not well included in the action taking place on the stage.

BIRTHDAY OF A TWO-YEAR-OLD

We invite other kids.

The child must have made friends with whom he makes Easter cakes side by side in the sandbox, and sometimes even shares toys. They will become the most welcome guests at the holiday.

№ 1. WHO TO INVITE

Three or four children who are well known to the birthday boy (not necessarily the same age), with whom he often meets. Your little one has already found a common language with them, so many conflicts can be avoided. Focus on the children’s celebration – do not combine it in time with a holiday for relatives and your own friends.

No. 2. HOW TO TREAT

Fruits, pastries and, most importantly, the cake will surely be appreciated by the kids. It is better to treat kids not at the beginning of the holiday, but at the end. Some kids may get too carried away with food and skip the rest of the program.

№ 3. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Prepare the room for the party: remove some furniture – the more space, the better. Lay out the toys, laying them out in small portions during the holiday – so the children will be constantly busy and not get bored. Plan your activities to move from active play to quiet play. And one more thing: prepare small souvenirs for each guest.

№ 4. What should not be done?

Do not put on costume shows. At this age, children are extremely shy. And even if your kid is bold beyond his years, one of his guests may be afraid of a clown or a good fairy. In this case, the holiday will be hopelessly spoiled.

At this age, the baby already has the first attachments. And even if some parents are very skeptical about the baby’s first friends, they are the best and favorite for him. And three-year-old children will be very happy if adults forget about their importance and fool around with them.

No. 1. WHO TO INVITE

This is exactly the case when the age of the kids invited to the birthday is not too important, the main thing is that the birthday person considers them his friends. It is better to invite no more than 5-6 children to the holiday. They can also be invited with their parents, but only if adults do not refuse to participate in joint entertainment.

№ 2. HOW TO TREAT

Make a buffet! Dishes with small sandwiches, canapes and kebabs will appeal to both parents and children.

№ 3. HOW TO ENTERTAIN THE CHILDREN

Your task is to unite children and adults. Tell the guests that they are in a fairy forest, all the inhabitants of which have been bewitched by an evil wizard. To help them, you need to pass tests: build a tower, solve riddles, draw a miracle beast. Are your parents shy? Come up with an alternative! Offer to draw a train of wishes – each family draws its own trailer and comes up with an exclusive wish.

IMPORTANT! A three-year-old child may have their own opinion on how they want to celebrate their birthday. When preparing for the celebration, do not forget to ask the birthday man about his wishes.

№ 4. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

COLORS . Guests become in a circle. The host commands: “Touch yellow, one, two, three!” You need to quickly take up a thing or object that is in the room or on the players of the right color. Who did not have time, he is out of the game.

CONGRATULATION TELEGRAM . In advance, compose the text of congratulations for the birthday man, putting ellipses in place of adjectives. Ask each guest to name any adjective, write them in the text and read what happened.

FUNNY ANIMALS . Sing a song known to everyone in an unusual way, for example, using the voices of animals. Boys can sing “wow-wow”, girls can sing “meow-meow”, and parents can sing “kar-kar”. Try not to get lost!

PASS OBSTACLES . Arrange the skittles at a certain distance from each other. The players stand in a chain and hold hands, blindfold the first of them – the captain. He must lead the rest without hitting the skittles. Members of the team are actively prompting him.

Naughty Rhymes . The host reads a mischievous rhyme, the rest repeat all the actions named in the text. At any moment, the leader says “freeze” – everyone freezes in one position and remains in it until he counts to 10 or 15. It is very important not to laugh!

№ 5. WHAT NOT TO DO?

  • Three-year-olds get tired quickly, so there shouldn’t be anything too bright or loud at the party. For the same reason, you should not leave music on for the whole birthday.
  • Despite the fact that the kids are already “adults”, they should not be left unattended. Even if you take a break from the entertainment program, one of the adults must be “on duty” in the room where the children play.
  • Don’t make contests. Many children are sensitive to loss.
  • Do not come up with birthday scenarios with complex plots and unfamiliar characters. The life experience of three-year-old children is small – not many of them will be able to understand the intricacies of the plot and imagine themselves in the role of one of the characters.

How to celebrate a child’s birthday

Each child’s birthday is a special holiday for parents, and all mothers and fathers want to make this day joyful and unforgettable. About how to celebrate a children’s birthday, depending on the age of the child and what points you should pay special attention to, I am a parent will tell.

How to celebrate a child’s birthday 1-2 years old

Where to celebrate?

The birthday of a very young child is best celebrated at home. Babies at the age of one or two are wary of a change of scenery, so the holiday will bring more joy and pass without excesses if its celebration takes place in a calm and familiar homely atmosphere.

Who to invite?

Children under two years old feel insecure in the company of strangers, so the best option is to celebrate the baby’s birthday in a small family circle or invite only two or three of your closest friends.

Festive menu

Young children are not yet accustomed to traditional table food, so the best option would be to prepare several dishes for adults, and as a treat for the birthday boy, put fresh chopped vegetables, berries, ice cream in bowls, cheese and simple crackers on the table.

Entertainment program

Kids at this age are not yet able to entertain themselves, so parents will have to act as the main instigators of fun at the holiday. Buy balloons and soap bubbles – the child will really like it.

Have fun finger painting, play simple games that a child can understand, sing funny songs, dance.

Please note

Children under two years of age get tired very quickly, so be prepared to leave guests for a while if you have to put a birthday boy who has become naughty from fatigue to bed.

What can be useful for a baby at the age of one or two years for successful development? This question is answered by the President of the Association of Children’s Goods Industry, psychologist Antonina Tsitsulina.

How to celebrate the birthday of a child 3-5 years old

Where to celebrate?

The birthday of a child of three to five years old can be celebrated at home, in nature, in a special children’s cafe or entertainment center. The choice of place depends on the temperament of your baby and his own desire.

If your child prefers quiet games, opt for a home party, and if he is fidgety, look towards a picnic in nature or fun in an entertainment center.

Who to invite?

By this age, the child already has friends. Invite your little one to invite them to the party. If you are sure that you can cope with a whole horde of little fidgets – let the baby himself make a list of guests.

If you don’t have helpers, or you would like to spend this holiday in a more relaxed way, offer your child an alternative option: let him choose three or five of the best friends whom you will call directly on his birthday.

And so that the rest of the children will not be offended, you can bake a birthday cake and bring it to the kindergarten the next day so that everyone can try it.

Festive menu

Festive menu directly depends on the place where you are going to spend the holiday. If this is a house party, then put more different juices, fruit drinks, fresh vegetables and, of course, sweets on the table. Cakes, desserts in bowls, cookies in the form of funny figures, cakes, ice cream can serve as a delicious treat. Do not put caramel on the table, because babies of three to five years old will actively move with an “icicle” in their mouth, and this is not safe. Also, do not display snacks on wooden skewers, as children will very quickly find uses for them that can become dangerous.

If the holiday takes place outdoors during the warm season, keep an eye on the freshness of the products – leave all snacks and sweets in a cooler bag until needed. And do not forget to take as much drinking water as possible – playing in nature requires a lot of energy, so the kids will often feel thirsty.

If the celebration will take place in a special children’s cafe or entertainment center, discuss in advance with the parents of the invited children and the establishment’s staff all items of the festive menu.

Entertainment program

At the age of three to five years, children are already quite independent and can run, play outdoor games and entertain themselves for a long time without feeling tired. However, adults should also join in the joint fun from time to time. Come up with a costume party, a home theater performance, fun contests with prizes. A little birthday boy and his guests will appreciate if the room is decorated with balloons, confetti, paper garlands.

If you are celebrating a child’s birthday outdoors, don’t forget to take balls, badminton, and a jump rope with you so that children can have fun and be healthy.

In children’s cafes and entertainment centers, the holiday program is usually run by a local animator, so the problem of entertaining the guests of the baby does not lie on the parents’ shoulders. Nevertheless, familiarize yourself with the holiday program that you are offered in advance, discuss it with your child, and if there are any special wishes, be sure to tell the animator about them.

Please note

Keep your little ones safe: at this age, babies are very curious and active. Hide away any items that could be dangerous if you are spending the holiday at home. Be sure to discuss with all the invitees the rules of conduct if the fun takes place in nature, and in any case, keep an eye on the little fidgets.

Another important point: kindergarten children get tired quite quickly, so the holiday is best spent in the first half of the day, and you should definitely consider places for rest if one of the kids wants to take a nap.

If you entrusted the organization of the celebration to professional animators from a children’s entertainment establishment, make sure that the festive program takes no more than two to three hours of time. Usually this is enough for children to have a snack, play enough and not get tired.

How to celebrate the birthday of a child 7-10 years old

Where to celebrate?

There are many options. You can arrange a house party, go out with the children to nature or organize a celebration in a children’s entertainment center under the supervision of a children’s party agency. When choosing a place, you need to take into account the wishes of the birthday man.

Who to invite?

This issue should also be resolved jointly with the “hero of the occasion”. By this age, children already have a certain social circle. Kids are quite capable of deciding for themselves which of their peers they want to see at their holiday.

Do not impose on your child the guests you want to see, because the presence of people at the party with whom he does not have a good relationship can spoil all the fun.

Festive menu

Let your child decide for himself what dishes will be on the festive table. The only important caveat – do not forget to ask the parents of the invited children if any of them are allergic to any products.

Entertainment program

Children at this age prefer not only active but also intellectual games. It will be good to diversify the program not only with speed and accuracy games, but also with logical ones: charades, riddles, magic tricks, guessing games and creative contests.

Please note

Schoolchildren of seven to ten years old will certainly want to be left without parental supervision at least for a while – give them such an opportunity. If the celebration takes place at home, set two tables in different rooms – one for children, the other for adults. Let the children take a little walk in the fresh air in the yard without the presence of adults (you can watch them from the window).

If you are celebrating a child’s birthday in nature, allocate a place for children to play and a picnic separate from adults, but at the same time try to keep them always in your field of vision.

The best present is a book! That’s what we said in our childhood. And now this statement is not without meaning. Watch our cycle of programs “Book to Help” – and see for yourself!

How to celebrate the birthday of a child over 10 years old

Children over the age of ten are already actively making decisions for themselves. In preparing the holiday, you can safely focus on their wishes, which are unlikely to be very different from your capabilities and ideas about life.

How to prepare the first birthday: a step-by-step plan of events

Many parents want to celebrate the first birthday of a baby in an original way, so that both the baby and the guests will like the holiday. Definitely, the approach to preparing and holding such a celebration can be radically different.

Some people just try to observe the traditions and customs associated with the anniversary of the baby, while others like the idea of themed parties with original paraphernalia, cool treats and fun entertainment.

For those who have decided to organize a grandiose first birthday of a child, we offer a detailed plan of preparation for the event. It can be adjusted to suit your ideas, but the general principle will help you not to miss any little things that can later upset your parents.

First birthday: 2 months before the holiday

Yes, yes, it is 2 months before the preparations should be started.

Someone leaves the proposed items in the plan until the last moment and eventually faces insoluble problems that cannot be solved a couple of days before the holiday.

  • Determine the date of the holiday.

It is customary to set the date of the holiday exactly on the day when the baby was born.

But if it falls on a working day, you can move the celebration to the next weekend.

According to folk beliefs, birthdays are not celebrated in advance.

Therefore, even if the date falls on a Monday, it is not necessary to transfer the celebration to the previous Sunday.

  • Make a guest list.

It is desirable to coordinate with the guests the date of the holiday and the possibility of their presence at the celebration.

Perhaps someone is planning a business trip or personal business for the date you have chosen.

Be sure to specify how many children will be with adults.

This information will influence the entire further process of preparation for the holiday.

  • Decide on the venue for the celebration.

If you have planned to spend your baby’s first birthday at home, start collecting ideas for decorating the room, the table.

When a decision has been made in favor of a restaurant, cafe, children’s entertainment center, call the selected organizations and make a reservation for a specific date.

Believe me, if the date falls on the season of weddings, graduations in kindergartens, schools, it will be problematic to find a place in the last days.

  • Order animators, photo or video shooting.

It is better to agree with the organizers of the holidays in advance so that there is time to agree on all the nuances.

If you decide to undertake such activities, find out where you can rent suitable equipment.

Child 1 year old: 1.5 months before the celebration

Time is rushing inexorably, and there is less and less left for serious preparation.

Moreover, mothers, who usually take care of such things, are distracted by household chores and caring for the baby.

Therefore, we do not put it off until later, but every day we fulfill one item from the proposed plan:

  • We decide on the theme of the holiday.

It is the chosen theme that will help determine further actions related to decorating the room, gifts and outfits.

And let someone think that at the age of 1 it doesn’t matter to a child whether he is dressed as a bee or a sailor.

You can choose a really unusual, unhackneyed theme that will emphasize the love of parents for the baby.

  • We buy or order an outfit for a child.

Definitely, there will be no problems with buying just a beautiful dress or costume for a baby. But if you want to dress up your princess in the outfit of the bee Mai or the little mermaid, and the boy as a cowboy or a sea robber, you will have to think about how to make such an outfit or where you can buy it, order it.

If you order via the Internet, then the delivery time may take a month and a half. Consider the pitfalls of ordering via the Internet: suddenly the size doesn’t fit or you simply don’t like the outfit when you put it on your baby.

  • We make a wish list, decide on a gift for the baby from the parents.

The gift list will make it easier for your relatives and friends to choose presents.

We will not talk about the same type of gifts or simply their uselessness. Of course, it is foolish to expect that the cost of donated items will justify the cost of preparing for the holiday. But to “order” the necessary crumbs, according to parents, gifts are worth it.

It is not bad to coordinate gifts with close relatives, for example, with grandparents, aunts, uncles.

After all, they can give a rather expensive thing as a gift.

Don’t forget about a gift from parents. After all, a birthday itself is not a gift, even if the “annual family budget” went to it.

  • Making a plan of the event

Try to describe every minute how the holiday will go.

For example, at 14:00 – the beginning of the holiday, meeting guests, 14:30 – presentation of gifts, …..16:00 – games, competitions, … .., 18:30 – photo session.

This does not mean that guests will have to strictly adhere to your plan and throw a half-eaten cake at 4:00 pm in order to urgently participate in the proposed entertainment.

But thanks to such a plan, you will be able to navigate how much time you have for games, watching slideshows, and how much for toast and snacks.

  • Deciding on competitions, entertainment

Each competition, game, fun requires a certain, and sometimes serious preparation.

Therefore, let’s start by simply writing a list of what entertainment we plan to hold and what attributes will be required for this.

  • Find and save patterns for decoration.

Once the theme is defined, finding suitable templates will be much easier.

Write a list of what kind of decorations will be used to decorate the room, on the streets.

How will you decorate the dishes, how will you decorate the candy bar, will you use streamers and the number “1”.

Getting ready for the first birthday: a month before the holiday

There are a little more than 4 weeks left until the X-day and this is not so much if you make most of the paraphernalia with your own hands.

According to some mothers, even 5 weeks were not enough for them to do everything.

It is not bad to involve assistants in the process or to distribute work among friends.

Why not entrust your younger sister with making garlands, caps from already printed templates, or your older brother – to build a three-dimensional figure “1” or make a slide show from selected photos.

The next two weeks will be dedicated to the preparation of decorations and paraphernalia for competitions.

In order not to forget anything, let’s add these items to the plan:

  • We select a baby photo for a slide show or collage.
  • Print out all prepared templates.
  • We start making paraphernalia.
  • We draw a wall newspaper or congratulatory posters.
  • We make award certificates, diplomas, medals for participation in competitions.

Definitely, you can order or purchase all the jewelry, but you shouldn’t put it off either.

  • We order or make our own invitation cards for guests.

Be sure to indicate the date, time and place of the holiday in the invitation.

You can attach a list of invitations and dress code requirements to the invitation card.

Baby is 1 year old: 2 weeks before the event

It’s time to take care of the treats and gifts for the guests.

  • Make a menu.

Find the right meals for both adults and children. Be sure to write what you fill the candy bar with.

Talk to parents about allergies in children.

Take into account not only hot dishes and snacks, but also drinks, both cooling and hot drinks.

It would be nice to have a grocery list.

  • We order a cake, gingerbread.

Anniversary cake, of course, you can bake yourself.

But sweets that are made professionally, taking into account the chosen theme and with inscriptions, will look much more interesting.

  • We check the availability of dishes, tablecloths, napkins.

It is necessary not only to check whether the necessary dishes are at home in the required quantity, but also to think about how the serving will fit into the theme of the holiday.

You may need to purchase disposable cups, drink bottles, sweets holders.

  • We order balloons.

If the decoration of the room includes compositions of balloons, it’s time to order them from a specialized organization.

  • We buy holiday paraphernalia.

Various trumpets, ordinary balloons, ready-made props for contests, other elements of festive decor will have to be purchased.

  • We prepare musical accompaniment.

Useful fun cuts for competitions that can be recorded as audio tracks.

It would be nice to get a CD with children’s songs. If you are planning karaoke, find the appropriate recordings on the discs.

  • We are looking for helpers.

Ask friends and family who can help with cleaning, cooking and decorating.

There is a lot of work to be done. So don’t hesitate to ask for help.

  • We confirm orders.

We call the organizers, restaurant, animators, photographer to confirm the application, adjust the time, menu, and make the necessary payments.

  • We make an appointment for a haircut, manicure.

In the pre-holiday bustle, you can really forget about this important point.

And on the last day it will be problematic to look for a free master.

One year old child: 1 week before the holiday

If all of the above items were completed on time, there will be no rush in the last week.

You can think of outfits for mom and dad, as well as adjust the work that was missed.

Go through the list again. All of a sudden, they forgot something. There are still a few things to be done:

  • We are updating the list of guests.

There is still time to adjust the menu and script if there are unexpected changes to the guest list.

  • Preparing presents for guests.

Thanking the guests for participating in the holidays has become a sign of good manners.

Such gifts will not only express your gratitude, but will also remind you of a good time.

Ideas for such gifts for guests can be found in the article: Seasonal gifts for guests.

  • We make advance purchases.

A week before the holiday, you can buy canned food, non-perishable food, drinks, and alcohol.

Child’s first birthday: 2-3 days left until 1 year old

The most emotionally intense days.

The approach of the holiday is already felt in the air. The heart is solemn and exciting.

After all, this is the first holiday for babies and mothers inevitably worry about how the child will react to such an event.

But we leave all the worries and move on according to the plan:

  • We check the readiness of the details.

If you have prepared in advance a list of what you want to see at the holiday and how you will decorate everything, it will not be difficult to check the readiness of paraphernalia, props, gifts.

We collect all decor elements in one place so that we don’t waste time looking for them at the last moment.

  • We upload photo albums, wish books, CDs.

Relatives are happy to look at photos of the baby, as well as albums where parents recorded all the stages of the first year.

Therefore, do not deprive relatives and friends of this pleasure.

Take them out of the cabinets in advance so that you don’t have to look for them at the last moment or in front of guests.

  • Bringing beauty.

We don’t forget about ourselves and set aside a few hours to visit the hairdresser and get a manicure.

We check all the outfits for the baby, mom and dad.

  • We make purchases of products according to the list, blanks.

Consider what meals you can prepare ahead of time.

There may be treats on the list that require marinating or allow you to make certain preparations.

This will unload you on the last day.

Tomorrow is the 1st birthday

Today is the final touches of preparation.

That’s why we don’t waste our time on trifles, on things we didn’t have time for, couldn’t do, missed.

No time left for sanding. We cover only the important remaining steps.

  • House cleaning.

It is advisable to entrust this stage to dad or sisters, brothers.

Believe me, they will do a great job with surface cleaning even without female guidance.

Of course, if you have not planned to generalize the house on the eve of your birthday.

  • We collect orders.

If you ordered a cake, gingerbread, collage, balls or other props, you need to pick them up and bring them home or to a restaurant on this very day.

  • Cooking treats.

We bake a cake if there is no custom-made pastries in the plan, and we also prepare salads without dressing them with sauces, marinate meat, put sweets in flowerpots, and prepare soft drinks.

  • We check the charging and readiness of equipment.

Charge your camera and camera as well as phones.

It would be nice if there were spare batteries for such equipment.

We check the performance of DVD, laptop, karaoke. Don’t leave it for tomorrow.

And in case of unforeseen breakdowns or malfunctions, you can still find a replacement.

  • We decorate the room.

It is advisable to leave this stage for the time when the child is put to bed.

Let such a holiday be a real surprise for him.

Happy first birthday

And now the holiday has come. After waking up the baby, congratulate him on his birthday.

You can even give a present, a toy or a bunch of helium balloons.

But do not forget that parents are waiting for the last stages of preparation for the 1st Birthday.

It is advisable to share duties on this day and invite close friends to help.

  • Cooking hot dishes and salads.

Finishing the preparation of treats for guests, dressing salads, preparing meat or fish dishes, decorating sandwiches, snacks.

Arrange the dishes in flowerpots, salad bowls, cups and be sure to decorate with prepared toppers.

  • We are finishing the preparation of the premises, yard, table, candy bar.

This is the kind of work that helpers or ideological inspirers can do.

Especially for setting up the table, benches, hanging garlands, you will need male help. But it is better to do the serving yourself or entrust the lady to whom you can entrust such an important process.

Everything is ready for the holiday. We dress up the baby and meet guests.

Happy birthday!

Have fun with all your heart and don’t think about the fact that you didn’t manage to do something and suddenly something will not be to the liking of the guests. But if you think that your duties are completely exhausted on this, then you are deeply mistaken. After all, not only will parents have to control the entire process, but there is still cleaning ahead.

A week after the holiday

The holiday is over. Great memories and wonderful photos and videos remind of him. Share your joy with friends and relatives.

Why not have a tea party to watch the holiday footage.

And be sure to send all the participants of the holiday the most interesting photos and videos from the first birthday.

As you can see, preparing for the first birthday is not a simple and lengthy process.

But, believe me, if you approach him correctly, he will not be able to turn your life into a series of problems and fuss. And the holiday itself, indeed, will be unforgettable.

15 brilliant birthday party ideas from 2 years ago

While your child’s first birthday celebration might have involved little more than party hats and a stunning cake, the stakes must be upped when they turn 2. This year, your little one has not only become more active and more social, but has also developed his own unique set of likes – three things that make the perfect guest of honor!

Before sending out invitations to your little one’s big day, consider these helpful tips for celebrating a two-year-old’s birthday.

Serves – Literally – Kids 2+

If one thing toddlers love is snacks, so make sure they have plenty of safe, nutritious foods to snack on.

“When it comes to celebrating a toddler’s birthday, parents need to keep food simple, healthy and affordable for kids,” says Dayna Tolly, owner of Party On! Events in Texas. “Sliced fruit, yogurt cups, and snacks like chicken nuggets or tiny PB&J sandwiches always work well.”

Be sure to find out if children have food allergies so you have options available for them too.

The time is right

Remember that most two-year-olds are still sleeping, so be mindful of the time when you plan the party.

“For the optimal experience for everyone, the party should be scheduled for noon, sometime after they sleep,” says Jordan Stringfellow, owner of Jordi & CO Events in Southern California.

Stringfellow notes that when a party is too close to bedtime, party guests and birthday or birthday people can become sleepy and cranky.

Another timing issue to be aware of? Attention covers!

“Birthday parties for two-year-olds should be kept short because toddlers’ attention time is short: two and a half to three hours is plenty, including free play, some activities, and cake,” says Stringfellow.

Stay Interactive

While two-year-olds will be happy to see classmates and other people they love, don’t expect them to be entertained or too quiet.

“At 2 years old, attention to crafts is not enough, so interactive entertainment is usually the best choice,” says Tolli. “Anything that adds fun and originality to guests, such as balloon artists, jump houses or characters in costume is sure to be a hit.

Stations available

“Stations that allow toddlers to play together are great, but make sure there is one item per child to avoid territorial crises,” Stringfellow says. “In addition, each game or center must be run by at least two adults, one leading the game and the other taking care of the children so they take turns.”

Keep Away

Parents of toddlers know to supervise their children at all times. However, it is important that the party space is safe and secure as this age group is always on the move.

“Whether you’re hosting a birthday party at home or renting an indoor or outdoor space, keep the space clearly defined and make sure at least one parent stays to care for their kids,” Stringfellow says. “Toddlers are constantly on the move, and host parents have to make sure that all children are safe.”

Choose what your child loves and stick to it

Whether it’s a favorite book, play or activity, all two year olds have their own thing – use it.

“Choose a theme based on what captures your child’s imagination the most,” says Stringfellow. “Then carry that theme throughout the party, from invitations to gifts and, of course, on the cake.”

And now the most interesting part. Here are 15 brilliant birthday party ideas from two years ago.

1. Petting zoo

“The petting zoo is always very popular with people in this age group,” says Tolly.

And if you’re worried about ponies swimming in your azaleas, don’t worry. There are plenty of small petting zoos (like rabbits and chickens) for kids’ parties.

2. Bounce house

When it comes to a two year old birthday, there is nothing better than a house for kids. Jumping up and down a soft, colorful structure for an hour on end? This is every kid’s dream.

3. Bubble Party

Alison, blogger for Oopsey Daisy, came up with a super cute and super easy bubble party idea when her son was 2 years old. In addition to blowing and chasing bubbles, kids (and adults) !) Like popping bubble wrap. Let’s talk about sensory experience.

4. Sandcastle Party

If you can’t make it to the beach for your two year old’s birthday, don’t worry. He — and all his friends — will have just as much fun building sandcastles in the sandbox or a sand table in the backyard. Just make sure there are enough shovels and buckets for everyone!

5. Art Party

Whether they are coloring, finger painting or chalking on the patio, a themed party is a great way for any two year old to spend a few hours.

If you’re ambitious, a circus-themed party will provide the opportunity for a variety of kid-friendly activities. Think popcorn, clowns (if your child isn’t afraid of them), and lots of red and white striped decor.

7. Character Party

Hiring your child’s favorite character to play games and sing songs with the kids will not only entertain the little ones, but also give you a break.

“You want to spend time with your kids and enjoy the party, not run around like crazy and manage all the logistics all the time,” says Tolli.

Thank you, Peppa Pig!

8. Face painting party

Bunnies, tigers and butterflies – oh my! For the two-year-old age group, “painters are always the best choice,” says Tolly.

9. Superhero Party

Whether your child has a particular superhero they represent or gets upset when you do your best Batman impression, it’s hard to go wrong with a superhero themed party. Just don’t forget capes and eye masks. Pow!

10. Favorite book party

Does your child have a book that he asks you to read over and over again? Why not make it the theme of your party? Think of all the snacks you could offer at a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party!

11. Sesame Street Party

From decorations to cake (and cookies!) to possible character visits, the options for a Sesame Street themed party are endless. Kelsey Graves of We Heart Party even came up with the cute idea of making a P-Day for the party!

12. Water Party

If you are looking for ideas for a summer second birthday party that will keep everyone calm, how about a water party? Children will enjoy splashing around in the paddling pools and sprinklers, as well as playing with toys at the water table.

13. Balloon artist

Few things can open the eyes of a two-year-old child like a long balloon that has feverishly turned into a poodle. Hiring a balloon artist is a great way to keep kids entertained and they make super cute party gifts.

14. Construction Party

Traffic cones for decoration, mini hard hats for gifts, toy trucks filled with snacks—there are many ways to spice up a construction-themed party.

15. Ball

Ball-style party? Yes indeed.

“Old-fashioned activities are best for this age group: blocks, sandboxes, simple relay races, and simple toys like beach balls that are easy to throw and kick,” says Stringfellow.

And in keeping with the theme, the kids’ pool filled with colorful plastic balls is guaranteed fun with the little ones, as well as great photo ops.

Baby’s second birthday party

Your baby’s second birthday is coming up and you want to celebrate it. But how? Read on for party tips and tricks for two-year-olds.

What can I expect at my baby’s birthday?

At 2 years old, children are mostly concerned with their own needs and desires. This is how the world looks to two-year-olds (and this does not mean that they are spoiled). The party will most likely go smoothly with good adult supervision, not too many guests, and reasonable expectations.

At the age of 2, your child may be tenacious one minute and yearning for freedom the next. Although he enjoys playing with other children, your child does not yet understand the give and take that is a necessary part of peaceful interaction with other children.

This means that the party isn’t really about inviting other kids to entertain your child – that will matter more as they get older. It’s more about celebrating with people who are important to your family.

Because your baby is not yet able to put himself in another child’s shoes, he may hit, bite or snatch toys from his guests. If you think this might be a problem, arm yourself with strategies to prevent aggression and encourage sharing.

As he gets a little older, your baby will better understand how others think and feel and can act accordingly.

Who should I invite to my baby’s birthday party?

You probably have close relatives on your list and could invite one or more toddlers and their parents. An oft-quoted rule of thumb is to invite two children to your child’s second birthday, three to their third birthday, and so on. Further. A good approach to determining the length of the guest list is to think about how your little one has reacted to large and small gatherings in the past and choose a party size you think he or she will be comfortable with.

What is the best time for a baby’s birthday?

Most kids this age still sleep in the afternoon, so keep that in mind when planning your party. for parents.

Where is the best place to celebrate a baby’s birthday?

Home is usually the easiest place to host your child’s party, but if you have a lot of guests or your home isn’t the ideal place to host them, you can try hosting an event at the playroom, in the park, or in the park . local recreation center, gymnastics school, children’s museum, church hall or restaurant. Some places will organize most of the parties for you for a fee.

Is it a good idea to create a theme for your baby’s birthday?

This is an optional ingredient, but many two year olds love a party theme based on their favorite character, toy or animal. Imagine a Curious George theme, for example, with bananas as an appetizer, stuffed monkeys or Curious George books for decoration, paper plates with George’s face, and a cake shaped like a big yellow hat. Or a bug party with butterfly invitations, a caterpillar cake, bug stickers for guests, and a simple game where kids dig for prizes in a bucket.

What about food for the baby’s birthday?

If your party isn’t at mealtime, you don’t have to worry too much about food – a little snack and a few drinks is enough. If you are serving lunch or dinner to guests, small portions are best, such as cookie cutter sandwiches, English pizza with muffins, small pieces of fruit or cooked vegetables, small crackers and muffins. (If you’re feeding mostly adults, it’s easiest to schedule a simple meal for them that can be fed in small bites to the kids as well.)

Be aware that there is still a risk of choking at this age, especially if your little one swallows food quickly to get back to play. Avoid foods such as nuts, whole grapes or pitted cherries, marshmallows, hot dogs, and hard candies or chewing gum.

You need enough chairs or children’s tables and chairs to accommodate all the children. If this is too much of a problem, consider having a picnic on the floor.

Food can spill, so put a blanket or tablecloth down first. Rainproof cups are also a great idea.

What are the best activities for a baby’s birthday?

Most babies love to dress up, so you might want to have a box of clothes or costumes handy. Simple games or activities where kids can follow suit, such as Ring Around the Rosey or dancing to the music, are also a good idea. Toward the end of the party, you can read a story to the children to calm them down a bit before they head home.

It’s smart to schedule multiple activities, but don’t worry if the kids end up brushing them off by playing with different toys or jumping from one party item to another.

What about gift bags for the baby’s birthday?

By the age of 2, guests appreciate a small bag with gifts. You don’t have to spend a lot – inexpensive souvenirs like colored pencils, plastic animals or figurines, matchbox cars, plastic bracelets, bubbles or stickers will bring a lot of fun and entertainment.

What is the best birthday present for a baby?

What to give a two-year-old child? Here are a few possibilities. (See our gift list for more ideas.)

  • Push or pull toys, such as a shopping cart, doll carriage, or mini shopping cart
  • Role play toys, such as plastic food and kitchen utensils, or tea sets
  • Thinking toys, such as puzzles or books
  • creativity, such as watercolor and construction paper
  • Outdoor equipment, such as a ball or paddling pool

If your toddler opens his gifts in front of other children, be prepared to mitigate outbreaks rather than share. If you decide to wait for the gifts before the guests leave, send the gift giver a thank you note. Include a photo of your child opening the gift or playing with it – that’s nice.

18 original and fun two year old birthday party ideas

The best birthday party ideas for two year olds tend to be the simplest ones. A 2-year anniversary is a big milestone for toddlers (and their parents), but that doesn’t mean your two-year-old needs an extravagant birthday celebration. Toddlers just want cake and shiny things to wave, and they want to run free and laugh at nonsense. That’s why paying big bucks to rent a space just doesn’t make sense to them.

Host a party at home and come up with a theme that requires little more than getting creative with a gear closet or a quick trip to the supermarket. Lay down your hosting duties for one to two hours and be sure to cater to the adults who show up. After all, they are the only ones who will remember it. Here are some easy and fun second birthday ideas whether you’re hosting an indoor or outdoor party.

Children represent the largest group of unvaccinated people in the US, which means that indoor gatherings are still a danger and should be avoided. April, however, , The Centers for Disease Control, , have revised their rules for outdoor gatherings, now considered less dangerous for small groups, as long as unvaccinated children and adults wear masks and social distancing is maintained.

Indoor 2 Year Birthday Party Ideas

Build a Cardboard Castle

It’s as easy as going to your local hardware store and asking for as many cardboard boxes as they have on hand above. Then paint the boxes in different colors. When the party starts (and when the paint is dry), help the children build a cardboard castle to play with.

Paint Party

Purchase washable markers, finger paints and crayons; unroll kraft paper scrolls on countertops, or glue giant sheets of drawing paper along the bottom half of the (well-protected) wall; and then let the kids go crazy. It also doesn’t hurt to get some coloring books for those kids who want to structure their art a little more.

Favorite Things Party

Two-year-olds don’t like to be noticed, and they definitely don’t like being told what to do. That’s why sometimes it’s better to forego organized activities and games and just give your child the tools to have fun. And what could be more fun than having all your favorite things on your birthday? So get your child’s favorite color decorations, eat all their favorite meals and snacks, dance to their favorite music, and play their favorite games (or with their favorite toys). Because yes, second birthdays should just be glorified play dates.

Rainbow Party

It’s as easy as using color to entertain kids, because let’s face it, kids just love color. The more color the better. So grab colorful ribbons, rainbow cake, colorful clothes and have fun.

Fairy-Tale Fete

Include as many of your baby’s favorite fairy tales as possible (serve oatmeal as a “porridge” of Goldilocks and the Three Bears ; have the children wear red capes for Little Red Riding Hood ; offer a clay pie, haystack cookies and house bricks as a tribute to The Three Little Pigs ().

Buckets

In case you haven’t noticed, babies love to touch things. So, collect a few buckets and fill them with random items – spaghetti noodles, plasticine, sand foam, rice, a bag of peanuts, and whatever else you can find. Set up bucket stations and let kids entertain themselves with a sensory adventure.

Milk and cookies

There is no one, at any age, who doesn’t want to just sit and eat milk and cookies. and start eating sweet treats. So bake (or buy) a variety of cookies, grab some milk, and eat an old fashioned milk and cookie bar.

Baby Brunch

No one wants to deal with a bunch of fussy toddlers who either just woke up or need to sleep. So throw your kid’s birthday party in the morning, celebrate everyone’s favorite meal, and get everyone home by noon. Serve eggs, bacon, muffins, juice, and include a “cereal bar.” An easy cake option for such a party is a birthday pancake, which can also be decorated with candles.

Go shopping

At the beginning of the party, give each child $10 of monopoly money. Then let the children go to their parents’ different vendors to buy different treats and toys. Practical and fun, right?

Biennial Birthday Ideas for Outdoors Party

Bug Party

Kids love bugs. Why? Dont clear. But the rational fear that prevents them from simply collecting spiders and bugs is not yet in effect at this age. So take advantage. Spread some fake bugs around your backyard (or around your house, for that matter) and have a contest to see who can find and collect the most bugs. You can continue the theme with insect-inspired treats, butterfly nets, and jars of fireflies to give away.

Garden Party

Need help gardening? Luckily, toddlers love to “help.” Buy some pots and some seeds and have the kids plant fruits, vegetables, and flowers together as they like. Then let each child take a small pot with them and watch it grow.

Flower Party

Buy a few discounted bouquets from the local market and arrange them individually. Sort the flowers by type and let the kids “create their own” bouquets to take home. Bonus points if you have flower-themed treats.

“Pool Party”

Depending on where you live it might be a little early to swim, but creating water droplets and filling a few backyard baby baths allows kids to have their own version of a pool party. Make sure you have umbrellas and a snack bar to keep the kids very happy (in other words, not hungry or burned to a crisp).

Mud bath

Sometimes you just have to acknowledge a child’s ability to get dirty. However, let your parents know to come armed with an old pair of clothes and fresh clothes to change into before heading home for this one. Get some kiddy pools and fill them up with mud, foam and water. You won’t regret it. When children play in the mud, it is a special joy.

Bubble birthday

Two year olds love bubbles. Two-year-olds love bubbles more than they should. But we won’t argue. Arm the kids with bubble guns, bubble machines, bubble sticks, soap nets, and buckets full of soap and water (or “bubble mix” you can buy at the store) and watch them go.

Social ice cream

Everyone loves sundae. Get ice cream with different flavors, toppings and fun plates, and let the children make their own ice cream ice cream. Of course, the birthday boy is given two candles in ice cream.

Summer Snowball Fight

One of the most special warm weather treats I’ve had is when my niece and nephew were surprised by their grandma with a bucket full of snow she collected last winter and kept frozen until then until July. She let it thaw, and then on a hot summer day, everyone cooled off with an old-fashioned snowball fight.

Playground Park Party

Don’t have a big backyard to play in? Ask your child’s friends and their parents to meet you at the playground at the local park for a long vacation. If you want to deliver food and drinks, most municipal parks have sheds that you can rent by the hour.

2 Year Birthday Ideas & Party Themes (and Tips!)

Looking for 2 Year Birthday Ideas or Coming Soon Second Birthday Themes turn two years old? Turning 2 is an important milestone for both your baby and you parents!

On your child’s first and second birthdays, it can be hard to figure out what to do to make them special. They’re too small to really understand what’s going on, so a grand birthday celebration isn’t always the best idea, but y’all You also want your two-year-old child’s birthday to be fun! With our first child, I had to get creative from second birthday idea .

My eldest son always has a big birthday party with my whole family, because mom and dad have a birthday right after his birthday.

Because of this, his birthday is only for our next of kin. And since Rishi (aka dad) has to go to work, it’s like a normal day for us!

And let’s be honest, is there anything worse than a birthday that doesn’t feel like a birthday?! Especially when you’re TWO? 🙂

Roy is still talking about my birthday, which was months ago, because we didn’t have birthday hats, sing “Happy Birthday” or open presents! It traumatized him.😉 I had to make sure we did at least a few fun things for him to have a good time on his big day!

If your child’s birthday is coming up and you need ideas for a second birthday, here are some fun, easy, and inexpensive ways to celebrate your little one and make the day a little more fun!

But first, some advice from a mother of three!

Look what is written in this post!

3 Second Birthday Tips

Birthdays and birthday parties can be stressful, here are some ways to have fun on your child’s birthday!

1. Keep it simple

Don’t worry about the perfect cake, the best balloon garland, or the perfectly clean house! Keep it simple, including guests! Having a lot of people can be overwhelming for everyone, so the best way to make things easier is to keep the guest list small!

You can even take the party from the living room to the indoor playground (Chuck E. Cheese is a great place to host a party) or even to a small pool or water cushion for a summer birthday party! Then you don’t have to worry about cleaning your home or the limitless energy that little ones are destroying in your home! Just always under the reliable supervision of adults, wherever you are.

Keep party games simple, or if you don’t even want to mess with even a simple party game, you can do without them! We give up games to make it a little easier for us.

2. Keep your child’s schedule in mind

It’s always a good idea to keep your child’s schedule (including morning or afternoon naps) in mind when planning a party. If their bedtime is from 10 to 12, don’t plan cakes and gifts at 11!

It’s a great idea to invite guests while our children are napping. Then you can eat and chat, and when the birthday boy grows up, he will have a good rest for the holiday!

3. Be Baby Friendly

Toddler birthday parties should be geared towards toddlers (and toddlers too). That means baby-friendly food (not just adult food and it’s pre-cut so you don’t have to waste time cutting back on their food), suitable games for 2-year-olds, and a place where they can run (especially after the sugar kicks in). force).

Now let’s talk about 5 super easy ways to celebrate your two year old’s birthday, whether or not their birthday falls on their birthday!

1. Fill their crib with balloons.

It can be hard to figure out what to do for a two year old’s birthday, so a great way to start the day is to keep it simple and easy, like starting the day with balloons!

Fill your two year old with balloons for a fun way to start the day! Blow up 5, 10 or even 20 balloons and fill your baby’s crib when he wakes up!

When my eldest was one year old, I blew up a bunch of balloons and filled his crib when he woke up. Something so simple and inexpensive turned into (literally) hours of fun for him! It was one of the best ideas I ever had.

I did the same for his second birthday and he liked it again. In fact, I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it even more because he could run around the crib and throw and kick balloons everywhere!

We like to inflate balloons randomly throughout the year, so I love getting balloons with confetti inside as a special treat because he loves them! They will spend tons of time playing with confetti balloons, almost like trying to figure out how they got inside!

If you’re planning on doing this, do yourself a favor and buy one of these electric blowers! They’re so inexpensive, and when you think about how many birthdays you’re going to be celebrating, most of which will include balloons, you’ll be so grateful you have one!

I made about 3 balloon strings before I had an electric balloon blower and I was kicking myself I didn’t get it early – it makes it fly so fast!

One tip is to inflate all the balloons and put them in a laundry basket (or 2) the night before. Then you won’t be in a hurry to blow them up if your two year old wakes up early on his birthday!

You can also make a whole balloon garland!

2. Go out for donuts!

We all agree that two year olds love their sweets! You can’t go wrong choosing donuts and spending time together to start your big day. Head out on their special day and visit your favorite local bakery (or even the grocery store if there isn’t a bakery nearby) and let your two-year-old choose their own donut for a special treat!

We rarely go for donuts during the week. My husband will take our elders for donuts after gymnastics on the weekends, but we never do that during the week.

On our child’s birthday, I have to let my Type A personality cool off and let them choose whatever donut they want…even if it’s full of chocolate, giant or decorated with a million crazy things!

For Roy’s second birthday, I had to break the rules and let him eat icing and nothing else. After all, it’s his birthday, and it only happens once a year!

3. Visit the fire department.

What’s more fun than a giant red truck with headlights for a toddler?

We live just a few blocks from the local fire station. I’ve never been there, but thought it wouldn’t hurt to stop by and ask to see the firetruck, as Roy has been obsessed with “big trucks” lately.

They were SO good. They showed him the truck, turned on the lights, pulled out their helmet for him to try on (he was NOT a fan of that haha) and even gave him a sticker and a coloring book!

If you don’t live within walking distance of one, just give them a call and see if you can stop by! Even a quick 15 minute visit can be really special for a 2 year old. In fact, almost a year later, Roy is still talking about it!

4. Go to a beautiful park.

Make an effort and go to a beautiful park. You know one thing. One that has multiple play areas, a splash pad, or something your two year old really enjoys.

Let’s face it. If you’re anything like me, you’re going to the most convenient park. We have one block from our house, so we go there often, but don’t always head the extra 5 blocks to a larger park where there is still a lot to do.

We went to a bigger park (which actually has swings, things to dig with small slides suitable for toddlers) and Roy was in heaven!

5. Dance!

Turn on T Swift, Bruno Mars, Laurie Berkner or whoever your kid loves these days and dance!

Roy is a big fan of music and dancing (I dare say that most young children also like this). Nothing beats a good dance party to round off a birthday celebration!

Birthdays of all ages deserve to be celebrated. I hope these 5 simple ideas will help you plan your birthday celebration 2 year old !

Birthday Party Alternatives – Cenzerely Yours

UPDATED FEBRUARY 11, 2020

If you stumbled upon my nook on the internet, you are looking for a way to celebrate a child’s birthday without having a party . Just recently I was in the same place and was looking on Google for ideas about days two year olds (no parties please) as my little guy’s big day was approaching. I didn’t find much, but I decided to brainstorm and make my own list of birthday party alternatives.

Birthdays were always big events when I was growing up.

I was so excited about my birthday that I would have started the countdown in April. I had a song, April, then May, then my birthday.

Now that I’m a parent, birthday traditions are my job, but birthday celebrations today aren’t what they used to be. We live in an age of over-the-top, extravagant, and stressful birthday parties.

I planned one of these most worthy birthday parties for my son’s first birthday and almost got hives, so for his second birthday I wanted an alternative to extravagant birthday parties.

If you’re also wondering what to do instead of a birthday party, I have some ideas to make your child feel special without driving yourself crazy trying to keep up with an insta-worthy birthday party.

Why I’d Rather Skip My Birthday

If you love party planning, you might enjoy throwing beautiful, thoughtful birthday parties.

I, however, do and not .

Planning my son’s first birthday was again the stress of planning a wedding. So much to do and so much to remember, especially when you’re doing it on your own.

I found myself shocked all the time, even at the party. I didn’t like it very much and my little boyfriend was clearly too young to understand what was going on.

The stress of planning a birthday party

In the end, I asked myself if all this stress was worth it.

For me it was loud NO !

What’s the point of celebrating a birthday if you’re not having fun? There were so many people in attendance that I was running around making sure people were fed and comfortable, so I couldn’t focus on the celebration itself.

Birthday expenses

Today’s trendy pants are expensive. You will definitely spend a small fortune if you want to fix everything.

Due to a limited budget, we spent several thousand dollars on our first birthday party.

I imagine a wonderful family vacation that we could take instead.

I have found that the cost of birthday parties today can quickly get out of hand. Because of this, I did a lot of DIY work when it came to installing and decorating the backdrop.

It was super again stressful and labor intensive .

Children’s birthdays are overrated and overlooked

I think we’re at the point where children’s birthdays are no longer about them. It’s more like keeping up with everyone.

Today everyone is trying to cheer each other up with crazy birthday party trends.

Showing a child how much they are loved and special does not mean that they have to throw excessive parties. I found that children do not really care about trendy decor and picture the perfect cake.

They just want to have fun. Today’s birthday is more like the perfect Instagram shot and an opportunity to let the kid pose next to their gorgeously expensive backdrop for the umpteenth time. It is unlikely that any child would call it entertainment.

My little boyfriend had nothing! He was so busy taking photos after 15 minutes. All our photos are his chatter.

Too many forgotten gifts

I don’t know about you, but in our house seats are limited to .

We really don’t need more toys that my child won’t play with for more than 5 minutes.

I prefer a minimalist approach to toys because too much choice can be difficult and overwhelming for young children.

Besides, they will not learn to appreciate their things when they have them in abundance. You drop one on the floor and move on to the next.

Then, of course, the real exchange dance continues. You will always participate in birthday parties, give and receive gifts.

Birthday party for a child without friends

What if your child has few friends?

We’re still in the early stages and my little guy has only a few little friends, so his birthday will be mostly adult. I don’t know how much fun that would be for him.

What about a shy or clumsy school-age child with few friends? A birthday party with few or no kids showing up can be just as painful, so these birthday party alternatives might be the right solution.

What to do instead of a birthday?

I’m not saying you should never have a birthday party again. I would probably venture to say that sometime in the future I might have another big birthday party (though don’t quote me on that).

However, I will miss the annual giant birthday parties. Instead, we focus on fun things we can do together and maybe have mini birthday parties with our next of kin and maybe two best friends.

Of course, there will still be cake, decorations and balloons, but the focus is on the baby, not the party, so everything doesn’t have to be perfect.

I prefer a birthday without pressure when celebrating a child.

One way to make your child feel super special is to create a birthday tradition that they look forward to every year, no party required because is better than !

Birthday traditions to make your child feel special

Here are some birthday traditions you can start with your child to show them how special they are. They will quickly become family favorites that your children will look forward to. wait every year.

Birthday Countdown

If your child is like me, they will love the birthday countdown! You can use this super cute countdown clock, whiteboard, countdown chalkboard, or just a regular calendar to count down to your kid’s big day.

They like to change numbers or cross out dates every day and it creates excitement for their special day.

Decorating the house for birthdays

Just because you’re missing a party doesn’t mean you should skip decorating. I love decorating the house the night before so the kid can wake up for a birthday party.

I love hanging a ribbon on the door, so the joy of a birthday hits them from the moment they wake up.

You can even record streamers as a network so your kids have to blast through them, which is great fun!

Don’t forget the happy birthday banner .

When we were growing up, we had one colorful happy birthday sign that was used for every birthday for about 15 years. I always associate birthdays with this banner.

You can buy one or make your own and even add the baby’s name to make it special. You can even get versatile decorating kits these days.

Birthday Number Helium Balloon

One tradition I wanted to start with my little boyfriend is waking up to birthday balloons. We love getting helium balloons and adding a number balloon to make show how old they will be this year.

It makes amazing photographs that can be collected throughout a lifetime.

Try a regular numbered balloon on the bed.

Bonus, kids love helium balloons and my toddler spent all day doing his own! It lasted almost 2 weeks!

I know these foil numbered balloons can be expensive if you buy them straight from the party supply store.

If you want to save some money, order a balloon separately in advance and just pay to fill it up.

Another bonus to buy ahead is more choice. Many sizes, colors and themes are available.

Birthday Breakfast

What could be better than starting a birthday with breakfast?

You can make your child’s favorite breakfast whether it’s pancakes, waffles or their favorite cereal.

If you really want to add some highlights, you can even create a “custom waffle/pancake station” with all the elements like fruit, whipped cream, syrup and even sprinkles.

Why not use some trendy birthday cutlery too?

You can purchase disposable birthday utensils from your local party store or reusable special birthday plates like this one with a candle insert. How cute is that?!

Birthday interview

I think it’s such a nice idea!

You usually do an annual interview with your children, asking a series of questions each birthday and recording their answers. You can choose to video interview and write it all down or do the traditional pen and paper style.

Collect them every year and make a wonderful gift for years to come.

You will see how their answers change over the years, and it will be interesting for both of you to look back.

If you don’t know what questions to ask, I’ve included a free printout of ‘s birthday interview in another post.

Measure their height on the growth chart

Children love to see how much they have grown and how tall they are now.

Make it an annual tradition to mark your growth chart every birthday and count how much they’ve grown.

I love this giant ruler to hang on their walls.

Birth memories

I like the idea of retelling their birth story on their birthdays.

In fact, I wrote a letter to my son before he was born, in which I told about my feelings and about everything that I could not wait to share with him.

This letter has been added to a personalized keepsake box along with other items from his many “firsts”.

For example, his first baby blanket, a first-hand print, a few favorite overalls, and lots of other little knick-knacks I saved along the way.

We love to read “The Night You Were Born” and talk about that special night.

Birthday Gift Treasure Hunt

Another idea I love is a little adventure in search of the elusive birthday present.

You can start hunting with a birthday breakfast where you give the first clue and let your child solve fun riddles or answer questions to find their presents.

I like to include the whole family in this tradition so that each person can submit a clue or question.

If you’re in need of gift ideas, I have a list of great gift ideas without toys and another list of practical and useful gift ideas for kids.

We have too many toys that are barely used, so these are great alternatives to toys.

Specially packaged birthday lunch

If your child leaves for school on their birthday, prepare a special surprise lunch for them.

You can even gift wrap their lunch for a special treat.

Don’t forget your special birthday card and maybe even a birthday cupcake.

Let them eat cake

If there’s one thing I can’t live without on my birthday, it’s cake. If there’s a reason to eat cake, I’ll find it.

So, one of my favorite birthday rituals is to eat a piece of birthday cake for breakfast until it’s done!

LOL I understand that you probably don’t want your kids to eat too much cake, so even one day they can eat cake for breakfast is such a treat.

What I love about you

Another special way to celebrate a child’s birthday is to share what they like about the guest of honor.

You can do it during your birthday breakfast.

Walk around the table and make a special birthday toast, where each person adds something special about the birthday person or a special memory from that year about the birthday person.

This can also be added as part of the birthday interview series.

You’ve got mail

One of my favorite parts of my birthday is getting special birthday cards in the mail from relatives who lived abroad.

I loved them so much that I saved them all.

Send your child a birthday card (you don’t really need to send it, just put it in the mailbox so they can pick it up).

You could even write a special letter describing all of their greatest accomplishments or milestones in the past year.

Birthday Party Alternatives

Now let’s talk about fun ways to celebrate a child’s birthday without a big party.

You know your child best, think about things they like, places they like to visit, or activities they like to do.

My little boyfriend loves the farm, so this year we went to the farm with him and his best friend.

It was a super simple low key birthday, but it was all about him and he loved it.

Here are a few things you can do instead of a birthday party.

  • Special movie experience with all the extras – let your child choose the movie they would like to watch and enjoy a VIP movie with a special pre-show dinner (some VIP theaters even have a movie dinner plan) and let them get special treats like popcorn, candy and maybe even a cupcake
  • Go to an amusement park – Does your child have a favorite amusement park? I would love to go to Disney World on my birthday. You can take your child and let them bring a friend for some extra fun.
  • Visit the farm – for younger children, a trip to the farm can be a great party. Some farms host birthday parties and host events and games.
  • Play bowling or mini golf – if you have a child who loves to compete, you can do something active and fun like bowling, mini golf or an archery tag
  • Laser Tag is a great option for lots of family fun that will keep everyone active
  • Visit the arcade or carnival – if you have any local carnivals, this might be a great way to celebrate your birthday. If not, why not visit the playground or arcade.
  • Grant 3 wishes – if you are not sure what your birthday prince or princess will like, give them a magic lamp and let them make 3 wishes of what they would like to do that day
  • Visit the zoo or Animal Sanctuary – If you have a little animal lover, consider taking them to a zoo, animal shelter, or pet farm
  • Birthday Sleepover – Throw a small birthday party with your child’s BBF or cousins. too stressful, have a family sleepover in the living room or backyard where the child can stay up late and do something fun like board games.
  • Birthday picnic – visit your child’s favorite place (for example, a park) and have a fun birthday picnic. Don’t forget the birthday crown.
  • Have a humble gathering – Invite a few close family or friends to sing happy birthday and cut the cake together
  • Take a trip – Take a family trip or weekend to celebrate or even have a day trip or trip
  • View performance – why not see a show, performance or concert to celebrate this event?
  • Visit Aquarium – I’ve always loved everything underwater. If you’re a little one, take your mermaid or mermaid on a trip to the aquarium
  • Visit Aquapark – I also loved everything to do with water. If you have a warm weather birthday, you can plan a trip to the beach. If not, you can plan a trip to the indoor water park
  • Karting – if your little one is a bit of a speedster, he can enjoy a go-kart or bumper car day
  • Hotel Day – plan a hotel day out. Book a great room, eat room service, hop on comfy beds, order movies – all is ready! Let your little one feel like a superstar with a day at the hotel. Basically live out your Home Alone fantasies.
  • Giving Day – Teaching our children the principles of gratitude and giving can also be part of their birthdays. Does your child have toys they can choose to give away? Wrap slightly used gifts to gift them and reward their generosity by letting them choose the gift of their choice on their birthday.
  • Cake Smash – If you have a small child and need a special way to celebrate their early years, plan to smash a cake. I have a great post with all the tips and tricks for smashing an epic DIY cake.

Making kids feel special on their birthday

I don’t think having nice birthday parties is necessary to make a kid feel special on their birthday.

You don’t have to rob a bank every year and throw a big party.

There are lots of fun and free ways to celebrate birthdays that kids love.

It’s about making them feel especially loved and adored, so put aside mom’s guilt and extravagant birthdays if that tires you.

Make birthdays special with memorable traditions and events.

What do you think about parties? How do you celebrate? What do you do to make your child feel special? I would like to know.

You can create interesting party games, beautiful invitations and decorations with your creativity and ingenuity without breaking the family budget.

How to celebrate a child’s second birthday at home

0

The second birthday of a child is in no way inferior in importance to the first. Now the baby has become more conscious, began to remember people, places, things, moments. It is important that the holiday gives positive emotions and leaves only a pleasant trace in the memory.

What is the best way to celebrate a baby’s second birthday at home so that everyone is happy? More on this later in our article.

1

Who to invite

Only the closest relatives and friends who are sincerely interested in your child’s life.

It’s good if your friends have children who are the same age as your baby. They will be interesting together.

You should not invite those who hurt their son/daughter or who they don’t like spending time with. In childhood, resentment is remembered for a lifetime, and can develop into psychological trauma in adolescence and adulthood.

2

How to decorate a room

When decorating a room, you can choose a certain style. For example, turn a room into a pirate or space ship, a forest corner, a paradise island, an abandoned castle room. If you decide to have a theme party, then the design of the house should match the theme.

Be sure to tell your guests about the genre of your holiday.

You can have a party of one color or a masquerade ball. The birthday boy needs to pick up a beautiful outfit. Fairy, princess, butterfly costumes are most suitable for girls. And for boys – a pirate, a superhero or a cowboy.

Decorate with balloons

Draw funny faces on the balloons or stick paper-cut eyes, ears, a mouth, a hat on them. Such a decoration will amuse not only children, but also adults.

You can order or make your own wall press with cloth, balls, paper, toys and flowers. Guests will be photographed in front of her.

If you have a themed party

  • Space

Decorate the balloons with stars made of paper or foil (the main thing is that the child does not get hurt if he wants to pick up the balloon).

Girl

  • It is better to choose pastel colors;
  • Balloons and poster should be feminine;
  • Refresh the image of the apartment with flowers or their images, hang a garland, bows, pompoms. Use glitter.

Let your daughter feel like a real princess on this day!

Holiday menu

Take care of the holiday menu for children and delicious and beautiful dishes for adults in advance. Remember that for children and parents it should be different. For parents, put standard holiday dishes – meat, side dishes, salads, aspic. For children, prepare lungs: cereals, mashed potatoes, baked dishes.

As a dessert for toddlers, place sliced fruits on plates: apples, bananas, pears.

It is important that there is a cake at the celebration. But it should be according to such a recipe that the birthday man can also try. Therefore, we recommend that you prepare it yourself. So you will be sure that it does not contain all products harmful to the child.

Cake for a child 2 years old

  • baby biscuits
    400 g
  • Children’s cottage cheese
    250 g
  • Low fat sour cream
    150 g
  • Sugar
    taste

You can also use bananas (or other fruits your baby is not allergic to) and some milk to soak the biscuits.

  1. Put the biscuits into the milk to soften a little.
  2. Mix cottage cheese, sour cream and sugar – this will be the cream for the cake.
  3. Finely chop the fruit to be used as a dessert.
  4. Lay out the first layer of biscuits, spread with cream and place fruit on top.
  5. Lay out the layers in this way until you run out of products. On top of the last layer of cream, beautifully place chopped fruits.

Children’s cake is ready! Don’t forget to set the table nicely.

5

Tips for organizing

You should think over the scenario of the children’s celebration in advance. It is necessary to check that no one is sad, not bored. Some ideas can be “borrowed” from the scenario of celebrating the birthday of the 1st year of the child.

  1. Make sure that light and relaxed music accompanies the celebration throughout the day.
  2. Provide entertainment and games for younger and older audiences.
  3. Toddlers can play with toys, collect soft puzzles, throw balloons.
  4. You can hold quizzes for children – ask them simple questions, make riddles. Reward your child for each correct answer. To do this, prepare small children’s prizes in advance – soft key chains, soap bubbles, small toys.

Competitions for adults at the table

“Alphabetical congratulations”

Have the guests take it in turns to come up with greetings, starting with alphabetical letters in order. Therefore, the first begins his words with the letter “A”, the second – with “B”, the third – with “C”, and so on.

  • “And we wish you happiness and success…”
  • “Be healthy and happy! Let…”

Celebrate the birthday of a 12 year old. Birthday ideas (12 years old)

Where and how to celebrate a teenager’s birthday? After all, adolescence is the period when you can still linger in childhood with its innocent joys, and at the same time you want to grow up as soon as possible.

This is a period when you still really want to take part in children’s competitions and entertainment, but doing it in public is not always willing.

This is the age when you want to celebrate “in an adult way”, but at the same time remain a child. The women’s site “Beautiful and Successful” will help its readers with advice on how to plan a birthday for a child of 10-12 years old.

Where to mark?

There will definitely not be an unambiguous answer to this question. It is important to consider several factors:

  • The wish of the birthday man himself.
  • Financial opportunities.
  • Number of guests.
  • Time of the year when a birthday falls.
  • The amount of your time that you are willing to spend preparing the holiday, etc.

The simplest options

You can contact special agencies and they will organize any holiday for you for your money, or you can organize a children’s holiday yourself and choose games and fun entertainment for the birthday of a child of 10-12 years old. We offer you some interesting and popular ideas.

Bowling

Bowling is the most popular place where teenagers celebrate their birthdays. Indeed, at the age of 10-12 years, children have not visited so often in the company of their peers, so it will be interesting for them to spend time together. This option is convenient in that the children all play in turn, do not quarrel for the right of primacy.

What should parents of a birthday boy take into account?

  • First, immediately calculate the number of tracks. For children under 12 years old, it is better to stay on the option of 1 track for 6, and preferably for 4 people. Otherwise, you will have to wait a long time for your turn.
  • Secondly, be sure to tell the instructor the names of all the children who will be at the party, even if they come later. Their names will be entered into the computer in advance.
  • Thirdly, decide on the menu and be sure to order more drinks.

If you have a group of teenagers, then you should be assigned an instructor who will primarily monitor the equipment, and also tell your guests how to play along the way. A great option where you can celebrate a birthday when a child is 10-12 years old.

Water park

Also, children of this age will have fun with friends in the water park. But this option turns out to be a little expensive for the parents of the birthday boy, since staying in the water park is not cheap.

Therefore, it is important to discuss with the child in advance that he will celebrate in a small company. We are sure that water activities will definitely not leave indifferent a company of friends.

Laser tag or paintball

If there is an opportunity in your locality to send a cheerful company of teenagers play paintball or laser tag
– don’t even think about it! Excitement and drive, the desire to win and the feeling of a single team – these are the feelings that the young guests of the birthday will experience.

The essence of the game is that players are divided into teams, weapons are distributed (and in laser tag – laser guns), and they start fighting each other.

  • Laser tag resembles a computer game in which the child himself becomes a participant in the events. On special uniforms there are sensors that begin to vibrate if they hit the target.
  • In paintball, players “shoot” paintballs. If laser tag is more like a computer game, then paintball is a game of war.

There is no difficulty in these games. Children can play it from the age of 7. Teenagers should love this.

Equestrian club

Horse and pony rides are organized here. There are also options where the whole company will be taken on a sleigh or in carriages.

Picnic outside the city

Birthdays of teenagers aged 10-12 outside the city are great. It is enough to take a ball, badminton, organize a barbecue – children should like this entertainment.

If you are into hiking or have friends who are passionate about it, ask them to help organize a hiking competition with various crossings. It is interesting for both boys and girls in adolescence.

Options that require preparation

It is not always possible to celebrate a happy birthday for a child of 10-12 years old outside the home. Therefore, many celebrate the holiday in their native walls. What should be considered by parents who are considering how to celebrate the birthday of a teenage child on their own?

  • First, if you plan to invite both relatives and peers of the birthday boy, we advise you to divide the celebration into separate hours or days. Children – at one time, relatives – at another.
  • Secondly, take care of the birthday menu for a teenager 10-12 years old. Keep in mind that children at this age will not sit at the table for a long time, so it is better if you organize a buffet with many tartlets, fruit and vegetable cuts. Make sure there are plenty of drinks.
  • Thirdly, consider what you will bet on: the activity or calmness of children. We offer you some ideas on how you can celebrate the birthday of a child of 10-12 years old at home.

Quest

Quest (“search”) is a kind of game in which you need to go through certain stages in order to receive either a birthday present or another present (for example, a cake). It is important for the organizers to choose tasks that guests will be able to do and think over the route in advance.

If you have a lot of guests, you can divide them into teams, if there are few, each participant can play separately.

You can conduct a birthday quest for a child of 10-12 years old both in the house and outside it. Teenagers should enjoy the search, where prize will have to be searched all over the city.
An agency can help you organize a large-scale quest, if there is no such possibility, think over everything yourself. It’s not as difficult as it might seem.

Examples of tasks for the quest can be found on the Internet.

Theme parties

Teenagers at this age are very fond of . But here you will not be interested in the fabulous theme of teenagers. They want to show that they are already adults, so the theme of the parties should be adult.

Here’s what you can offer for your 10-12 year old child’s birthday:

  • MINECRAFT themed party. This is a very popular computer game among teenagers. Consider the design of the room where you will spend the holiday, as well as competitions and entertainment.
  • Pirate party.
  • Pirate party is popular at any age. Take your kids on a treasure hunt. Performing various tasks, children will have fun.
  • Party on wheels. An interesting site seemed to be the idea of celebrating a birthday by renting a limousine. You can travel by limousine to all the sights in the city. Immediately negotiate with the driver where you will need to stop, and how long you will have to wait until the children work up. As stated in one review, renting a car is no more expensive than renting in a cafe. 16 children can ride in a limousine at once. You will get not only a fun birthday for children aged 10-12, but also an unusual one.
  • Horror style party (vampire party). If it is possible to rent a mini-hotel with several rooms, it will be generally great! The essence of the party is that the children follow the story and open the rooms of fear, where different heroes are waiting for them – vampires, cannibals, etc. After passing through all the stages, the children can go to the disco.
  • The theme of a 10-12 year old teenager’s birthday party may be related to a movie that the teenager likes. Girls may be interested in a fashion show or pajama party. Boys can have a football party or a celebration in the style of the Wild West.

So let’s go like this: you come up with a detailed plan for the holiday and go to coordinate it with your parents.

Funny surprises. Let one of the teapots contain a plush toy instead of tea, and a white sock (clean, of course) or a hair clip under one of the cups.

Well, maybe for the last time you will allow yourself to be a little girl? Have a pink and blue bachelorette party with teddy bears and dolls. Put on beautiful dresses with your girlfriends, braid pigtails and play fun games. For example, host a Guess the Melody contest, sing karaoke, or organize dress-up games. Gothic invitations

The first thing to do is gloomy invitations. Invitations on black paper with white or silver inscriptions and drawings will look especially impressive. Such invitations will immediately prepare guests for the fact that something “special” awaits them. In addition to telling you where and what time to go, you can ask everyone to dress appropriately.

    Terribly delicious treats

In addition to the usual dishes, make some Halloween-themed dishes. For example, draw a chocolate sauce cobweb on fruit and put a spider on it (better than a toy one!). And about how to make cute mummies from sausages and cute ghosts from sandwiches, you can. Don’t want to bother? Then just choose dishes of dark colors: black pasta, fried meat, brown bread canapés, chocolate cake and pastries.

    Terribly interesting entertainment

The room should be dimly lit to create the right atmosphere. A laser lamp or a projector looks best. Hang paraphernalia in the form of bats, ghosts and spiders under the ceiling. For example, draw scary faces on a thin white fabric, throw it on helium balloons, and ghosts will hover over your heads all evening! You can also decorate each other in Halloween style with crayons or makeup paints. Do not forget about games and dances, but rather combine them and arrange “witch dances”: take a broom (broom or mop), turn on fun music, stand in a circle and start dancing, passing the broom from hand to hand. The witch with the broom in her hands when the song ends is out. The winner is the one who ends up alone dancing with a broom.
